“Subs Are Everywhere” ............. Really ?

It seems that a majority of threads states the above in some manner.

Evidently, most hang in circles much different than mine !

How often to do you actually see a Submariner on someone’s wrist ?

Every damn day when I look at my wrist. Otherwise, almost never.

You’re right, they’re presence in the wild is vastly overstated. I see one from time to time, but they are not everywhere. I travel a lot, in the financial markets of NY and London and they are seen only on occasion, as are DateJusts and other so called big sellers.
That said, had dinner this evening in London with a fellow wearing a coke GMT.

I live in SoCal......everybody has one. Its like Breitling Chronomats in the late 80's - early 90's or like Rolex Presidents all through the 80's.

It really depends on where you live. In a big city you can spot at least one per day without trying.

In display cases, not so much, on wrist, 3-4 times a month in NYC.

Depends where you live Don. Here in Hong Kong you could easily spot several in an hour on the MTR (subway), or just walking around town if you were really paying attention. And pretty much every other popular sports model. All of them real, too

This has been my experience also. While I do no business in NY, LA, etc., I deal with many corporate executives, manufacturing managers and the likes, might have noticed two since becoming aware in three years. I’m sure a mostly rural/manufacturing base state plays a role.

I hardly ever see them. And I consciously look at people's watches to see what they are. I saw one over a year ago on the wrist of the manger of a Mercedes dealership. Heck, in the last year I have only seen one other Rolex and it was on an attorney's wrist at work. Not even a Sub. He had a polar Exporer II on. That said, I agree with the above comments by some. Geography plays a huge role. Cleveland is obviously going to have more submariners, joggers, beautiful women, etc. than someplace like New York or Miami.

I see at least two every few days. One on the wrist, one in the safe when I rotate.

It’s interesting to see the vastly different number of sightings people are reporting even within the same city

Walk in a Merrill Lynch office in Cleveland and you will see plenty of Rolex watches!

Man, I wished I lived in a city where Subs were on every wrist! Just today I went into my AD and asked if they had a Sub. They didn't; and the only GMT they had was a Pepsi for $35K. When I asked when they might get one in, was told they'd have to put me on a list, then wait for their supervisor to order one in, and THEN, if I wanted it, I'd have to pay the whole cost up front with a credit card over the phone before I could even come into the store to see it!

Yeah, wish Subs were everywhere...

I am glad someone picked up on my sarcasm. I can assure you NYC and Miami are better than Cleveland in every way imaginable.

This. I have never seen 2/3 of my Rolexes (Hulk & BLNR) in the wild. Pretty sure watch salespeople don't count.

It's another tool to justify behavior that doesn't need to be explained. Buy what you like. $10,000+ watches aren't "everywhere", and "tool watches" describe G-shocks.

I tend to see them while traveling, a lot of the time at the airport. The Sub is the most common Rolex I see while I’m out, along with the datejust for women. I’ve also seen a fair share of BLNRs oddly enough.
