Super Impressed for $128 - Orient Bambino

Just picked up this Orient Bambino V4. WOW.

I've been looking for dress-ish type watch for a while. Came close to spending, or trading towards a variety watches ranging from $5k-10k.

I simply couldn't find anything that checked every box for me. I always had this one in the back of mind as a watch I'd want to try one day. Finally I decided to spend the $128. I'm super impressed.

Not only does it have everything I was looking for, but the price is incredible. The size is fantastic, the dial is stunning, the case shape and width is perfect. Also an automatic movement, 41mm case and hacking second hand.

Lastly, this style watch is pretty new to me. I'm mostly a sports watch kind of guy. One of the best parts about buying a low cost watch, is that I can try this out for a while and see if this style actually suits me, before I potentially upgrade to a higher end piece.

Really incredible. I'd highly recommend it.

That's great looking, I would not guess it was that affordable either.

Right? If I didn't know, you could tell me this was a $5k watch and It'd be hard to tell. Of course I can't see the movement, but I'm not expert on that anyway. There are plenty of cheap watches with "pretty" movements, and plenty of expensive watches with not so "pretty" movements lol.

well I just checked their website and this watch is listed for $310, so I'm still doing ok at $128 from amazon.

Yes - I wasn’t implying you were getting a bad deal. Just was sharing the code for anyone wanting it if another model directly from their website.

gotcha! I didn't take it that way. I knew you were being helpful. I was just kicking myself for not checking for promotions. Obviously i was received to see I got a better deal anyway

Fond memories. Orient was my starting point in mechanical watches. My "beater" remains an Orient Mako II USA, white dial. For under 300 US, really solid bracelet, hand wind, day/date feature, sapphire crystal, and sufficient accuracy for the price point. Highly recommend.

Thanks. I don't think that's a bad thing. I like the presage line a lot. They are much more expensive though I think, especially the limited edition one, which is the nicest IMO. I've seen it for more than $500 used.

It's one of those weird situations where it's a perfect comparison, but it's also not really fair to compare. Despite them both being "affordable" watches, one is 3-4x more.

Correction:My Bambino is called version 1, generation 2. The watches are more attractive than their naming protocol.

Early version say water resist. Later versions say water resistant. Not sure why they put this on the watch at all. It’s clearly not intended for diving.

It’s good to know you can wash your hands with it on and not have to worry about it.
