RO or ROC scratches
Hi Guys, wondering your experiences with scratches on either model in precious metal. I have some marks on the bottom of my bezel, and i cant decide if they bother me or not.

I was tempted to start a similar thread at some point, so will follow for responses!
I bought a 26320 in November (stainless steel ROC) and other than the first few weeks I've found myself very rarely wearing it as it attracts a lot of scratches. I am tending to stick to my GMT Master during the day (ceramic bezel doesn't mark and the bracelet scratches bother me less on a £6k watch than they do on a £20k watch!). I am pretty OCD but notice every scratch on my AP and it doesn't half scratch easily even though I don't recall catching it on anything. Kind of thinking of using it as an excuse to move it on but everything else I am interested in and have read about (Aquanaut, Nautilus, ROO) people say the same! Edit to add sorry I just saw your question was specifically regarding PM not SS |

It would be helpful if you decided they didn't bother you
The polished sides of the bezel scratch no matter if its ss or pm. Thats what highly polished surfaces do. If you are talking about the brushed top of the bezel then yeah the PM scratches more.

close enough...my 15450BA has already gotten similar blemishes on the flat top of the bezel.
the gold seems to show more (than SS)...goes with the territory and arguably unavoidable, i suppose. unfortunately the price of having such beauty. |

Remember you can not strictly send the watch back to AP for polish only. If it is out of warranty, they would require you to do a full service in order to polish.

It is a scratch magnet unfortunately. I have sent watches to AP for service before and they included a polish with the service at no cost. Govberg will also polish the watch I think for $150 or so if it is a big deal.

My 15202 after 9 months of being in regular rotation is still looking pretty good. Just a couple of hairlines in certain lighting on the polished parts of the bezel, otherwise brushed surfaces are still flawless. Bracelet is still near flawless, with one or two hairlines that again are only visible at certain angles in harsh light.
I have great wrist awareness. |

I don't like bezel marks so a ceramic is my choice for a daily or when I have to be rougher.

I've been so tempted to trade my RG44 for the RG ROC, but this is one of the reasons I didn't pull the trigger. I can deal with scratches on the case, but scratches on the bezel would drive me nuts..

Yea the scratches on the bezel suck, but its the price of having the ROC i guess. For how nice the watch is id say its worth it.

Its inevitable, gonna happen. When you send in for service, you will have the option to refinish if you like!
