I'm specifically talking about a modern brand new watch from an AD. If I'm spending that kind of money or any amount really, I want everything that comes with the purchase. No rules, regulations etc. I think that's fair, and what we are all accustom to.

OP, So what reference does your soul get you?

Congrats on a great addition!
Hopefully a free platona

I ALWAYS! wanted a daytona AlWAYS! I still go and have a sneak peak now and then 8 months after purchasing

It’s an occasional watch only.

There is no way I’d have paid grey prices for a SS watch.

It took me three years to get it.... To be honest I think it was luck on my part I'm not really sure I was ever on any list even though I had been pestering them for one.Take from that what you will. I'm not even close to being a VIP purchaser with this dealer however I do have service and purchase history with them.

Lmao. If an AD ever handed me something like this I'd rip it up in their face.

At a minimum.

Enjoy your Daytona and congrats again.

To be fair with your current inventory it’s unlikely you’ll ever have that happen

Today I was comparing a D500 with a 2nd gen VC Overseas that was actually priced a grand lower, and the VC blows the D500 away in finish, feel and intricacy. The hype over this watch is insane and it does not deserve such adulation, it is no where near a Haute piece and never will be. It's just a good, solid, all round sports watch. Stay away from the circus if you can.

According to that moronic piece of paper, even if purchaser has a family emergency, too bad. You can't sell it within 3 yrs or you can never buy from said AD again. No big deal there.

BUT, couple that with the fact that if the emergency sale occurs within 1 yr, you will have to sell it without the warranty card because the AD isn't giving up the card. Good luck to the second owner getting it serviced by RSC during the warranty period.

As has been said before, my watch, my paperwork, my warranty card, all at time of purchase. Anything else and the AD can keep it. Period.

OP buys the watch with no intention of resell.
6 months later he hates the thing, he can't sell it?
I would not do this.
Or, is this a joke, we are getting closer to April Fools Day.

I understand topicstarter and would also sign the contract to be able to buy a dream watch at retailprice and good timeframe. The warrantycard can be picked up one year later no big deal.
Only the flippers are crying here.

Bull.

If you take no issue with some jeweler holding onto YOUR property for a year, that's on you. The vast majority of us want what we paid for. ALL of what we paid for. Nothing more, nothing less.

For a Daytona C I'd have no problem signing this. Worst case scenario I'd have to sell it if times got exceptionally tough and I'd lose a relationship with an AD.

Exactly! That would make me extremely nervous, though I question whether it would be enforceable in court (not a lawyer and no familiarity with Scottish law). It should state at what price they may purchase it back, or that they simply have right of first refusal.

That ‘contract’ isn’t worth the paper it is written on.

Not a big deal. If you are a real purchaser of the watch for your own purposes, you are just confirming that in this agreement.

And the punishment for breaking the agreement? "all subsequent tradings.. will cease". Not like you are signing off your house or anything.

This is more of a case of the AD covering their own behind, in case a watch they sold is found to be in the grey market.

Not a big deal to me.

Give me a Daytona at the MSRP today and I will sign two of these.

Let's say the AD found out the watch was flipped for a profit.

I would guess they will have no problem selling you a platona if you wanted one.

I'll complete that for you to the poster you quoted; Bullshit.

I am not a flipper at all and find this a crock of shit. I have my contributions in this thread already and will leave it at that.

It's too funny.

What if buyer owns it for 6 months and found out he needs money for surgery....then he can't sell it? Things happen in life....

Rolex is successful today because of the current situation.

I don't understand what people mean by saying its not enforceable. Since the only repercussion is not being able to deal with that AD again then of course its enforceable since we already know AD's have no problem refusing to sell you a watch.

But I don't see any harm in it. Sign the contract and if, like the OP, you intend to keep it then there is no harm. If you choose to sell then accept you have burnt your bridges with that particular AD. If they all did this it would help to reduce the huge grey market mark ups.

So if you want/need to sell the watch in the first year you have to sell it with no warranty card? Can they even withhold the card like that?

That agreement is total BS and certainly has no standing or validity in a court of law.......you could sell that watch, anytime, if you wish.

Just plain dumb. You can’t sell the watch you bought or we shall punish you but they are perfectly happy buying it back from you and profit from the same watch sale all over again. Yeah seems perfectly fair. you buy it you drive it end of story and yes the warranty should come with it. Just so ridiculous it hurts. I appreciate for every 5 that would not sign 20 would so the AD is in a position of force but after spending 12 grand on a not so fancy piece of horology the ask is just idiotic and therefore looking at VC or Blancpain would be the way to go for me.
