First Rolex incoming!

Hi guys,

need to share my excitement with you.
My Rolex journey has been a rather odd one. I got into watches couple of years ago. From the start, I was 100% certain that I would never own a Rolex. I just didn't like what you typically associate with the brand or people who wear them (please don't kick me out and keep reading).

Over the years, I bought 2 Omegas (Speedy Pro & Seamaster PO GMT), 2 Breitlings (Superocean Heritage 46 & Transocean 1461), a Tudor (Black Bay Heritage S&G), a Sinn (104), a Tag Heuer (Link) and some Seikos (SKX, Samurai, Cocktail Time). And while I love all of these watches, the more I learned about Rolex, its history and its horological significance, the more intrigued I was. It was clear: I needed to have one.

I've been hunting a BLNR for months now here in Australia and it's almost impossible. They sell used ones 15% over MSRP and new ones at 30-40%.
After doing some research here one the forum and the countless people very happy with purchasing watches from DavidSW, I ordererd mine from him yesterday. And what can I say, I'm beyond excited!

it will be a gift to myself for my 35th birthday next week. Can't wait!

Congrats. The only thing better than the hunt is catching your prize. Be sure to post pictures when you get it mounted on your wrist :)

Totally awesome man, congrats! I’m in the same boat, 35 and when I started hunting for my first nice watch I said I’d never own a Rolex. The speedmaster ended up being the first, but now I have a 116710ln and incoming 16570 polar. They speak for themselves, and I’m so happy for you!

I'm curious what your first impressions are once you get the watch. I owned a fair share of watches before I got my first Rolex and you will see that once you have one, the differences of built quality between an Omega and a Rolex watch are pretty large. Even though I love the Speedmaster (being a space nut) and having owned one myself, I also owned a BLNR and the difference is pretty remarkable when you compare the bracelets, the finish, etc. When you rotate the bezel of the BLNR and just pay attention how it snaps into place - wonderful. Of course there are watches beyond Rolex, that not only continue but exceed that level of detail in the dial and especially on the case back. So consider this another stepping stone until you hold a Patek, Lange, VC, AP, or JLC in your hands

Have fun with your new watch!

Thanks mate, I'm very curious as well! I was/am a bit of an Omega fanboy. If i had to sell all my watches today and only keep one, it would be the Seamaster PO GMT . Love that watch.

I'm also on the lookout for a second gen VC Overseas (47040) at the moment, so comparing that to the BLNR and the PO as well as the Tudor will be very interesting. Long term grail is a Lange. But that'll take decades ;)

That's awesome! Such a versatile watch, I'm wearing it on a grey suede strap at the moment.

It's here!!!
Wow, I can't remember being this excited for anything in a long time.

The decision to go with one of TRF's most trusted sellers (DavidSW) sure paid off. Incredibly fast delivery.
Brand new piece and god, it is STUNNING! Absolutely love it.
The thing I'm most surprised about is how shiny the black part of the bezel ist. Almost silver at times.

Here are some pics! Also compared it to my Black Bay S&G for size.
Could not be happier. Thanks again TRF!

Promised myself I wouldn't wear it until my birthday (April 15). More waiting, but much easier now that it's here :D

Congrats! I love how the ceramic bezels change color in different lighting.
