State of the Daytona’s: my trio together. My first was the TT 16503. It is obviously the most accessible. I’m fortunate to have a good relationship with my AD and I’m thrilled to have both SS models in my collection to complement the TT.

Most people like the white dial more than the black for the SS models. I understand the homage to the Paul Newman and how the white dial is *closer* to the Newman. However, I view the 11650_ series as a watch in itself and not an homage. The fact that these are Daytonas are enough homage for my taste; they wouldn’t be what they are but for Newman and a Daytona in itself is enough of a tribute in my opinion.

Aesthetically, I like the black dial the most. This will likely change over time, I’ll likely experience seasons of preference for each individual watch. I certainly appreciate them all.

Lastly, I’m fortunate to have small wrists. My wife can wear all of these watches (not that she would wear the stainless models) and often wears the TT which I think works very well as a large dial ladies watch. I liken it to a “boyfriend” model of women’s clothing/style. I think it’s pretty badass for her to wear a Daytona.

Very nice collection. I think my girlfriend has been very supportive of me waiting it out for a Daytona C for the same reason...my guess is I won't be the only one wearing it.

Funnily enough, I did sell the TT. It was then resold at least twice over the course of a month during which I regretted selling it. I placed a WTB thread and was contacted by a trusted seller with a 116503. The purchase date on the warranty card was the date I bought the watch. It was my original watch. I bought it back immediately.

I wouldn’t get rid of it because I like it, my wife likes and wears it, and it has a cool story. I can hand down my watches if I eventually have a son. The 116503 is the only watch I can hand down if I have a daughter. Additionally, I think solid gold is too loud for my taste.

I remember reading your new Sub/gold Daytona thread the first day I found this forum like a month ago.

Congrats on all the recent new purchases, we have very similar tastes. Got anything else you’re eyeing?

Ha, no kidding. I’m pretty near the front of my AD’s list for the TT CHNR. He said he expects shipments to start arriving next month. I’m on the list for the Pepsi although I fall more out of love with it the more I look at it. My grail is the Day-Date 40, platinum, ice blue motif dial but that will have to wait quite a while. I would say I’m pretty well set for now but I also said that a month ago.
