36mm too small for 7.25” wrist?

What does the forum think? I personally prefer the 36mm DJ and DD over their 40mm counter parts. As stated I’ve got a 7.25” inch wrist, bigger guy but just prefer the classic case sizes in these two references. I’ve tried to like the DD40 and DJ 41 but for some reason keep coming back to 36mm pieces. I guess I’m just old fashioned. So what does everyone think, is 36mm too small for me? Not that I’d stop wearing my 36mm pieces either way lol. Just curious what the forums thoughts are with the bigger is better trend.

mine is 7" and I am waiting for the 36 Ss with the new movement, hopefully hidden clasp.
36 dj is perfect.

People might argue big watch is the trend and I agree. But it doesn't mean all watches must be big to look good. I also wear and enjoy 44 mm D-Blue and PAM. But for dj and YG dd I think the classic 36 is perfect and I voted with my money.

I think you’ve answered your own question and when it comes to your watch your opinion is the only one that matters.
My wrist is 7 inches, so smaller than yours, and I think a 36mm watch looks too small on me. I prefer 39-41mm but nothing larger than that.

As a general rule, I'd say 36mm is somewhat small for your size wrist. I have about the same size wrist and I recently got a bit obsessed with the 36mm Datejust - they look fabulous in photos. But when I tried a few on at the AD, it just didn't work, it was *tiny*. At the same time, I'd say the Datejust 41, even though not truly 41mm in diameter, is just a tad too big. The Day Date 40 is imho the perfect size but a bit flashy and obviously expensive.

Case shape also has a lot to with perceived size (more square = larger), as do integrated bracelets (look bigger), as do dial colors (darker looks smaller, whiter looks larger), as do thin bezels (more dial, less bezel = bigger looking). Definitely try before you buy in this case!

No, having tried on, and worn various brands, 36 is great on a 7.25. It always comes down to personal preference, and if you like what you have, or a vintage look/feel.

Absolutely not .... if you like the watch. I have 7 1/2 in wrists and my 4 and 5 digits Datejusts are among my favourites to wear. I’ll also wear 34-35 mm vintage. It does take a while to get used to it after wearing 38-42mm but give it a chance and some time on 5e wrist and they will grow on you if you’re uncertain.

I don't have big wrists and I still find 36mm too small. Just go with what you like. Plenty of older guys wear 36mm because that was the size of their day.

For my generation, it's a girl's watch plain and simple. 38mm is the smallest I'd ever go and even then I think the 39mm Explorer I is the only under 40mm watch I'm seriously considering.

In theory, I'd want a dress watch 40mm or under but I don't wear dress watches so there's that.

Do what makes you happy but don't expect others to agree with your choice but hell it's about you not them.

I have 7.5 wrist and I love my DJ36, I tried the 41 but I prefer 36. I have tried Sub wanting to like it but I feel it too big.
Take whatever you like and feel better, 41 is a great choice too.

Couldn't agree more. I really don't notice that much difference between my 36, 40 or 41. It sounds funny but it is true. Now, the weight is another thing. The platinum is like wearing a brick!!!

My 36mm YG Day-Date is my favorite watch and I have a 7.25 wrist. I will go 40mm for a sportier watch, like a Sub; but that’s my limit for larger watches. 36mm is perfect, in your case.

I'm convinced some people 'inflate' their wrist size. Their "7.25" is actually more like 6.75 and thus even the 36mm looks right at home.
