repair/service of a 1966 1601

Hello all, I have a 1601 datejust (1965/6 year of manufacture) that has stopped working and been advised the main spring has broken/needs replacing.

Any recommendations of where to send this to to get repaired and serviced as local A.D didn't seem interested when trying to talk to them and just tried selling me a new watch.

Im based in Leeds in the U.K

thanks in advance for any recommendations

James

Hi James
Watch Doctors did a good job in servicing my 1966 DJ 1603.

Worth giving them a call

@spoilsofwar01 I am based in North Yorkshire but travel quite a lot so willing to try somewhere that can fix it even if it means travelling...

@ancientmariner Thanks for the recommendation, I am sending it to them for a "quote" and assessment Monday but they are unsure if they can do it as its a 1601 but I'm hopeful..

Before and after

Its worth taking before and after photos, also ask the watchmaker to photo the movement for you in detail, this always fascinates me as you rarely get to see the insides unless your into opening your watches , Good luck with the repair "H"

Thats a good idea spoilsofwar, will take pictures prior to sending as don't have many as it is.

Will rering to find out if they are able to take pictures of the internals as can then verify movement etc.. (good shout)
