Rolex has a very large pool of enthusiasts. Most of them aren’t into high level finishing or other brands in general. As a result, everytime GS is brought up in the Rolex section, you get a lot of ignorant snap responses from uneducated people. It isn’t anything new.

Throw in a clickbait and nonsense title and gasoline meet fire.

I would not call it a "killer" but a preference, and probably not the best forum for asking for an opinion on which may be the better buy. Might be more sustainable to state the new Tudor Pepsi GMT is, and I might agree, if the Rolex bezel turns out actually more purple than blue. Getting use to the jubilee however.

Sounds plausible

Nice watch but sorry it's no Rolex. GS is a nicer than a Tudor IMO. Personally I'll take new Pepsi GMT over the GS GMT

Neither would I. My collection contains roughly an equal amount of both brands.

Beautifully finished. May be technically superior to any Rolex but will never be acknowledged as such by the watch community at large..

I think 0.00 people are cross-shopping a hi-beat Grand Seiko, and a near-tool watch from Rolex.

The Seiko appeals to a small group of folks who truly appreciate the pinnacle of old-world craftsmanship and finish complexity, married with the most precise and accurate mechanicals of modern times. The Grand Seiko is beyond reproach from a horological perspective, is produced in small numbers, and will always be a standard bearer for what's possible in watch making. It's likely meant to be appreciated for what it is inside, and perhaps only amongst "those in the know." It's an introvert of a watch.

The Rolex is, on the other hand, is a total extrovert. It's an icon, a status symbol, and a workhorse. Evolutionary in it's design, both visually and mechanically, it's the proven, safe play. It's not meant to challenge current tastes, nor push the envelope of horology, but rather to provide lasting service in all conditions, fit easily into existing perception of quality and value, and look good for a long time.

Both are excellent watches. Both tell time, in multiple time zones. But they are very dissimilar in almost every other way.

Any collector who owns both is truly a watch lover without bias or prejudice... And a lucky sonofagun, to boot!
