Diver vs SD43
Hello All !
Looking to add one of these....something of a daily wear / travel piece. Already have a 44Ti so the SD43 SHOULD make sense....but the pull of the diver is mighty strong...was looking to do a bracelet piece (which I know I can do with the diver as well). Would do the Diver with the black face. Thoughts on either or anything else in the same price point? Anyone have both ?? TIA ! |

Both amazing watches. I would base the decision on what’s already in the collection. If You already have a 44Ti I’d go with the SD43.
Whichever you choose, you can’t go wrong either way! |

Hands down the Diver over the SD43.
The only edge I’ll give over the SD43 is the durability of its ceramic bezel over the stainless bezel of SD43. If you can get over that hump with scratches, etc. or be a bit more careful with the Diver then the Diver is a way nicer watch. |

I gotta vote SD43. The bezel knob on the top left of the diver, and the quirkiness of its usability anyways, is just a turn off for me. It's a cool idea, but not for me. Plus, I hate the hour hand on the divers.

Tough call
I have a CE Diver and an SD43 and they are both great. the CE diver wins out on cool factor, but the SD43 is a more versitile piece |

I prefer the Diver but I'd get the SD43 here.

As much as I like the Diver, I would have to say SD43 for it's durability and versatility.

The diver is too big for my preference. I vote sd43. Reason being the fact that you already own an ap roo and also for me the diver is more delicate than the SD 43

I had both for a while. Only have the SD43 now. As near as perfection as I'm going to get without building my own watch!

I've owned the Diver and have the SD43. SD43 wins hands down for me. More functional, durable and versatile watch. Now if it was the CE Diver, I would choose that over the SD43.

SD43 easily. It is a tank and has all of the upgrades. New movement, bracelet, case, red text, and the cyclops works great in my opinion. Not to mention resale.

Think whats happening is the SD and diver are attracting very different buyers. SD - more tool less jewelry/show piece and Diver the other way round. So its not apple to apple comparison.

I own both, and i had to lose one, i'd keep the AP.
As much as I like the SD43, if i want to wear a sea-dweller i wear my 16600, the 43 seems to live in the box now that the honeymoon period has worn off. AP, i've had for 4 years or so and still wear it regularily (there was a brief period where i fell out with it, but it's back in rotation) |

For what its worth, as much as I dislike Rolex as a brand nowadays, I think I'd opt for the SD43 - although I wouldn't pay a premium price for one. I quite like the Diver but can't get past the bezel winder at 10 o'clock, which is a bit of a barnacle.

like both, would pick the AP diver. IMO if you have a rolex already and it doesnt matter for the most part which one. A GMT, A DSSD, a sub then the black dial and black ceramic bezel gets really redundant, really fast.
If the SD came on OF, then that is a different story. Im an OEM guy and 3rd party rubber straps are a non starter for me.

I see your point...no Rolex in the stable currently (5980or, 26400IO, and a PVD Panerai). Like both the Diver and SD43 very much and dont see a need for both. |

SD then. I like the Rolex a lot, i just couldn't deal with more than one similar looking watch if i had another one.

With no Rolex but with and AP44 definitely go for the SD43. Also you will not like how the bezel on the diver marks up.

I'd have to agree with this. However, I unequivocally choose the CE Diver over the SD43. That said, I'd pick the SD43 over the regular SS Diver.

Since you don’t have a Rolex (and have an AP) in the mix I’d get the SD — but that’s the only reason.
I still like the AP better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’d take the Sea dweller over any AP diver to be honest. Had them both steel and ceramic and they never lasted long. I see the appeal but a large sports watch that’s not exactly rugged has limited appeal for me. Would much rather have a 44 or RO if going AP.
As always ymmv.

Voted SD43 since you already have the ROO Ti.
