New model Rolex - Dial faded by sun?
This may be a silly question...
Just curious, has anyone heard of dials being faded by the sun? I plan on taking my WG Sub 116619LB, (Blue matte dial) to the Caribbean and will be exposed to the sun for a better part of the day. Is there any chance it could fade?

Might take decades of constant exposure though Be sure to wear sunscreen.

The crystal will filter most UV’s out, so fading shouldn’t be a problem in your lifetime.

For your Rolex the best sun exposure is before 10am or after 4pm.

Is there a good way to ensure that the hands fade at the same rate as the rest of the dial, or is that too OCD?

Make sure that the hands and the dial are in the sun for the same amount of time!

Rolex is King. I don’t think any other brand in the world can compete with their sport watches. Love that GMT BM

All in good fun
Not really silly but the amount of time it would take means that there is no real worry. My watches are in the Caribbean for multiple weeks each year and there are no indications that anything is fading except my tan.

Remember, some of the worst fading occurs on cloudy days!

B) I figure the suntan lotion probably did more damage to the seals than the sun did to the dial, so it should fall apart at the same time.

As far as B goes, it'll be good to be able to throw it all away at once, it would be a shame to have a platinum bracelet and no watch to attach. |
