One-Watch Collection

Hey folks,

I've been a lurker here for a while but my first time posting. Does anyone here have a one-watch collection? If so, what watch do you have, and are you tempted to expand your collection?

I have a few pieces atm (a few Rolex pieces, Patek, and incoming AP..) but the idea of buying a 116719BLRO blue dial as my one-watch collection is really appealing..it's very discrete yet super versatile, and only those in-the-know understand what you're wearing. My only worry is the white gold being a bit softer than the SS models..

Thanks to all in advance.

For 15 years, I had a one-watch collection. A Pepsi GMT - 16710. I only have 3 watches now, but to be honest I kind of miss the days when I just had one...

One of anything does not a collection make.

Right now I just have a SD43 and am super happy with just having one. In a few years maybe I’ll grab another but for right now, this is all I need.

haha ok, fixed it to "Rolex!"..though i do think one should avoid discriminating due to semantics and implied social class, and to focus on the message itself:)

One watch, yes it makes life simpler but there are so many beautiful pieces out there. And it works for most people. As for the BLRO to be the one and only, not sure if that would work for me.

I’d rock that as a one watch, it’s tough so don’t worry about the metal

I’m not a one watch guy. I need a selection. If I were to have just one, it would be a YG SubC.

I object to your use of the term "discriminating" and instead point out that a disagreement with a term (in this case "Rollies") does not equate to discrimination, nor does it say anything about implied social class.

The BLRO is a fantastic piece and the white gold is not soft at all. PCLs scratch no matter the metal. It is an excellent choice

116610LN (SUB C date) is my one watch collection.

I bought a 14000M (2006 Air King), and for a while had a 2 watch collection but gifted that to my father.

I Loved the airking while I owned it (temporarily even more than my sub) but eventually I realised that every time I did not wear my sub I missed it and having more than 1 watch kind of bugged me. The sub c date, is the best 1 watch any man can own IMHO.

I could easily be a one watch guy.....I'm not at the moment, but I see the appeal. The white gold GMT could easily be a one and only.

I do not believe in one collection watch.
I have a lot of watch pieces and benefits of that you can wear different ones for diff occasions, if I will go diving, I will wear my Sub or Tag Aquaracer , if I will go to formal event, I will wear my AP or Hublot, if I will go to work, I can wear Omega Speedmaster or Datejust and so on

I thought of selling my 2 Tudor Chronographs and going with one watch the Daytona white dial 116500 but at the end of the day I like them too much to sell for their market value so I'm going with the 3 plus a G shock.

I love having a selection, and it sounds like now you have a great one. I think having 3-5 pieces is great, and you can just go thru periods of time where you only wear one. The freedom is nice

if you only want one watch, its not a bad choice at all and it covers pretty much every situation. I might get a sky dweller instead though as i think that is slightly more versatile, especially for the dressier occasions.

Hi OP

Just wondered how versatile a BLRO would be really?

As beautiful as it is, is it really all things to all men as you say it will be as a one and only?

I just feel coloured dials and bezels have their place, but tend to look better in more casual situations - you know, jeans t shirt etc.

Sometimes you can't beat the simple elegance of a black dial & black bezel if attending a formal function or business meeting etc.

If you don't find yourself in that kind of situation too often then ok, but just have a serious think about it before committing to one watch for all occasions

I've always found it strange how offended people on the Forum are by the slang name for Rolex. Regardless, the white gold version of the BLRO actually to me is more desirable than the SS versions!!! It's gorgeous!! Welcome to the forum. Some of the member collect watches by owning one at a time and flipping them. Nothing wrong with that strategy as it reduces cost and allows experience with great watches!!!
