1803 Changing Day and Date Wheels Arabic
First of all I have yet to buy a Rolex.
I am really leaning towards a 1803 Day-Date. I was stuck between a Batman or Day-Date and Day-Date is my strong choice. My question is Is it okay to get a Factory Rolex Arabic Day wheel and Arabic Date wheel and switch them? Does this affect the value? Increase or Decrease. As we know they are rare and expensive. What should one expect to pay for the wheels? Thanks in advance for your input.

Changing the day/date wheels on an a 1803 shouldn't affect the value at all as long as you keep the set that is original to the watch.

could you use Wheels of an 1803 on a 18038?
I plan on trying to locate Arabian Date and Day wheels and inserting them. I know they will be tough to track down, but I would imagine they may increase the value.

I don't believe the date wheels are compatible. And quickset refers to the movement ability to change date directly versus winding the watch 24hrs at a time to advance date.

So is a quickset considered an automatic movement or not?

They are both automatic movements, the 1803 as well as the 18038.
The quickset refers to setting the day on the watch, the 18038 is easier to set once off date than the 1803.

A non quick set just means if the watch runs out of juice you will have to wind the watch until you get the right date but the movement is still automatic.

Ok so why would some wheel inserts be labeled Non Quickset almost as if there not compatible with a Quickset model?

As Springer pointed out they are not compatible. Two different movements in the 4 digit and 5 digit refs.

Is this a Non Quickset. See how it says automatic. Please be patient with me. I am still very new to this and trying to learn. Thanks again in advance.

Non quickset is an automatic watch
Quickset is an automatic watch Quickset is a different additional function of the crown, which when pulled out halfway, will cause the date wheel to advance by one day for each turn of the crown If the watch is non quickset, you have to wind the hands around the watch face for 24hrs to go forward for one day So advancing the date on a quickset takes a fraction of the time the same action would take on a non quickset https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-bl...te-models.html https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-bl...dent-1803.html |

1803 Changing Day and Date Wheels Arabic
Those wheels will not fit a quickset.
I suggest suspending your solo search for a watch that would require switching the day & date wheels until you become more experienced. Or find a trusted vintage dealer to guide your efforts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

> I am very confused.
It is not very complicated. First, try to find a nice day-date, you like, with a authentic dial (be aware, diamonds may not be the original factory configuration) + good looking case + bracelet. then check the case reference - when it is a 1803 -> all 1803 are "non-quickset", it is still a automatic watch movement, the day and date disc (from your picture) will fit - and your watchmaker can change them. A other reference number ? Maybe a "Quickset" movement, other day and disc set. A complete different story ... A 1803 is a nice watch, i hope you find a nice one Greetings from germany MaG |

Ok.
I just purchased these authentic Day and Date wheels. Now I am on a quest to buy a 1803 model for these. I just want to make sure before I do that I don't buy a watch that these art compatible with. So hence I am here making sure that I have all my ducks in a row before I pull the trigger on a watch is all. I know I seem like a pain in arse but I am just being careful and trying to learn at the same time. I appreciate all your guidance and take into consideration everything that is said within reason.
