Oyster perpetual 114300 rhodium dial

Hello all, fairly new to watches, yet to own my first one.

Looking at purchasing a Oyster perpetual pictured below but I have a few questions

How do I tell how old this watch is? The seller says it's four weeks old but I'm unsure if he bought it brand new or how long the store has had it.

What details do I need? Does the serial indicate the price?

Is it recommend to take it to a jewellers to confirm it's real?

How much is it worth? He's selling for around £3.5k

Regards

For a genuine, LNIB watch, £3.5k is a good price.

But honestly if you’re having these sorts of doubts it might be better to just pony up the extra £650 and buy from an AD. You may want to think about whether it’s worth it for the peace of mind.

I just bought that exact same watch - it’s great and once it’s on your wrist you won’t worry about what you paid.

Does the F serial indicate it's 2017/2018?

Also, if I was to buy it would you take it to a jewellers to verify?

What other things would you look out for, he's willing to sell for 3.2

4 weeks, then the current owner should still have the receipt to prove it.

I’m pretty sure the serial is random and you can’t use it to date this watch. Mine is a 2018 watch and the SN doesn’t contain an F. As for what to look out for, I’m not an expert and to be honest I’m not keen on encouraging you to make what sounds, on the basis of the information provided, like a potentially dodgy purchase.

If you’re determined to go ahead, factor the cost of authenticication into the price.

Take it to an AD to verify before giving the seller $$. He can go with you.

The receipt for the purchase will tell you when it was purchased of course. If he doesn't have it after this short of a time, that's a red flag. However the warranty card, which you should be getting also, will have the date the card was swiped by the AD. This "swipe" initiates the warranty with Rolex. If the seller has neither do not buy this watch.

It'll have a random serial so there's no telling. Best bet is to either check a receipt and/or the warranty card. At most it's about 3 years old as it was released in 2015.
It'll have a 5 year warranty attached to it (starting on purchase date).
I have it in blue, it's a great watch. Good luck

The issue is the closest AD is a couple of hours away, would a regular watch shop suffice?

I don't think UK ADs do this...

I would be wondering why this bloke has bought an expensive watch and is now looking to sell it a month later for a £1,000 loss...

As far as I'm aware his boiler has broken down and needs cash, I think he works at the same spot as my brother
