Long story short: I felt like it’s time for a new watch and put my Explorer 2 up for sale today. I did it to test the waters and.....few hours later, it was sold.....The price was fair and I let it go.

Now, I am in panic mode. I need a new watch.
I have a few options: (what is on my radar)

-pre-owned DD (36mm quick set)
-Pepsi 16710
-new Pepsi (have the option of getting one this year).

What do I do?

I saw this Y serial for a decent price...Im tempted. Do I wait or do I jump?

I would probably get it now, new one could be 6 months away still and you can trade for it then.

What do you want more? Seems silly to me to rush into buying a watch just to scratch a temporary itch.

If you really feel panicked about not having a watch, buy a cheap Seiko for a couple hundred to hold you over. You can keep it as a beater watch when you buy what you really want.

I don't like the look of the 2's on the bezel. I doubt it's genuine.

Buying a Pepsi 16710 at this time is not a 'panic buy' in my book.

But I would want to take a very close look at that one.

I see you are in aviation. I’m a GMT fanatic, so that’s my preference. Does it make sense for you? You need to decide for yourself. Someone flagged that as an aftermarket bezel in this thread. Check that out. The reason I like a 16710 GMT is the variations. You can get genuine inserts from TS, here. And then you have several watches in one.

I have a similar dilemma. I am considering selling my Explorer II and buying a new watch. I'm afraid it won't sell for a good price. Do you mind telling me how you sold yours and what price you got?

I do hv a Submariner and a few vintage pieces, so not completely without a watch. Pepsi, I always liked but It is a bit of a dilemma with the new model out. Do I buy an older one or a new one? Prices are pretty close. What makes better sense?
At the same time, I haven’t seen the new one and the jubilee bracelet would he my second option for a Pepsi...but the new movement with 70hrs power reserve is great when you wear it on rotation.

The initial impulse was to quickly buy another one, same day if possible. But I must breath and take it easy.

Glad you have a Sub to get you through the change... that’s a tough decision. 70hrs reserve is not critical for me, but it would be nice. If you have some vintage pieces, shoot for the new SS pepsi. I’d like to have a new SS pepsi, but I prefer the oyster, as you mentioned. I do have a jubilee for my 5-digit just to mix it up. The new ceramic bezel on the 6-digit BLRO is nice (I have a WG BLRO) but I wear the 5-digit more often. You need to see the ceramic Pepsi colors in person. Good luck with the search! I always enjoy the hunt.

I tend to think the same. Unless you get a good condition old Pepsi for a fair price(which is not that easy)......the new one is the way to go.

But...... you have a Sub, so, I'm thinking the DD you mentioned in your first post might be the way to go?

As for the new GMT, nice watch, but I would wait for it only if you LOVE IT, and it seems like you don't.

Oooooh, yes. That configuration is sweet.

DD is always in my books. Just thinking whether to get now (almost 40) or
later on at 45 or 50.

The new Pepsi started to sing for me over night but I really need to see it before I know for sure.
Nevertheless, this morning I went and put my name down for one. God knows what the wait is....but I think I can get it this year.

BTW: my local AD charges 600 usd over the official price for the Pepsi. I guess this is something I can accept.

Selling the Explorer, brings out the Sub. I really like this beauty, this I do not think I can ever sell.
