Skydweller SS in 2 years or Two tone now
Hi all,
I’m in the market for a Stainless skydweller with black dial. I am on 3 waitlists and have a deposit at two places who are AD’s. However the word is 18-24 months (roughly) but no guarantee. The two tone yellow gold with black face is available now should I want it. However I feel that the stainless is a more breathtaking watch by the fact it has a waitlist. However I have yet to find anyone who has one in person I can view. For 3k more I can get the two tone but it’s clearly not as desirable. Is the consensus in the Rolex market the same? That the two tone is not as desirable? Any thoughts, help, opinions, advice would be appreciayed for this long time Breitling guy who wants to get his feet wet with his first Rolex. Thanks. |

I picked up a black dial steel and a black dial bi metal in December , I prefer the black in steel. Also got the steel blue dial in March.
If you can get the bi metal at a decent discount it could tie you over until the steel black dial arrives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For that same amount you can pick one up from a trusted seller on here... And no 2 year wait...

I’d wait, but that’s only cause I’m not a fan of two tone

Trust me they’re out there at MSRP. You’ll have to be persistent and patient, but to me the hunt is more enjoyable than the kill. Anytime you’re out of the city, drop into non-corporate owned AD’s, engage in some watch talk and you’ll be surprised by what might be lurking in the safe. If you’ve got to have it now, you’ll have to pay the premium.

Never settle.
There's lots of threads which guys regret going with a watch they didn't want in the first place. Wait it out or go grey market. |

The SS blue dial is what I want and wait I shall do. It will make the day so much more special. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks guys. I will wait for the SS black dial which is the one I want. The hunt is enjoyable to a point. However, I have been at it some time now, and resulted to this forum to learn more about the chase. I definitely do not want to go to the grey market. I could however I don't think I would enjoy the watch as much knowing it cost me anywhere from 2-5k more for it. Hopefully, I can find one around here. If any of you catch one at your local AD's that isn't spoken for would you please message me?
Thanks |

I'd spend the extra $3k and get the black SS right now rather than the TT. It will maintain it's value much better than the TT. I've seen used TT for sell for cheaper than SS in the classifieds.

If you want the ss with black dial, then don’t buy the TT. Get what you want. That’s easy.
You’ll be able to get it sooner than you think. Grey market pricing isn’t holding, signaling that demand is dropping. |

I think the TTs are beautiful. Since I could get a Blue I went no further. I could well have been happy with a TT and wouldn't have given any more thought to the blue had I bought one.

Getting an in demand Rolex as a first one from AD is pretty tough, I am surprised 2 shops took deposit from you. Is is refundable?
With the new GMT the hype for sky dweller might go down, now you can find the TT pretty much everywhere. That was not the case last year. Wait a few more months to make any move. I got A TT black dial in December after exhausting my search and rejection for SS models, had to start somewhere. The sea dweller followed rather quickly as I was a pre-existing customer! As it turned out I quite like the TT, a little bling is nice. With the 2 dwellers it turned out not so bad after all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
