Hands are service replacements. The dial seems ok but I would like to see a better pic :)

Isn't 1985 too late for a matte dial?

My understanding is early 1984-ish was the cutoff, based on generally agreed-upon serial numbers by date.

Maybe confirm the serial number, might actually be an earlier watch?

Serial 91522**, then i believe it is a 1986/87? The seller wrote in the add that it was a 1985 that was sold in 1988.

Depending which serial number chart you use, it could be a late '85.

I'm certainly no expert, and Rolex was known to use whatever parts were left over, etc. but I've looked at a lot of these 16800's and I don't recall seeing a matte dial after 1984...

Hopefully someone who knows more than I do will chime in.

Not too sure if the sn checks out or not as it seems a little late for me , but that insert looks pretty good if nothing else .

Why would someone go through the trouble of sourcing a more expensive and harder to find Matte Dial for a Glossy WG Surround Sub? Just doesn’t make sense to me

9 million is way past the "leftover" time for matte dials.
