iPhone vs Android for business use

Well, it seems as though it is time for a new phone, and am seriously considering making the leap from Android to Apple.

My past phone was an LG, and it bricked itself. Unfortunately after two years it was a known issue. My current phone, a Motorola, is in the process of doing the same.

"Not able to delete crap. Unable to save new crap! You're SOL with this crap!"

I literally cannot take a single picture, despite having 1/2 of my memory available on both my internal storage, and external (memory card) available. I spent four hours looking and using every suggested fix to no avail. I'm done with this thing.

Now, here's where stuff gets pear-shaped. I have no other Apple devices. No Macbooks, iPads, iTunes, headphones, etc. I am not able to take advantage of the whole "ecosystem." This will be used purely for taking pictures, playing Amazon music in the ute, TRF ( :ROFL: ) texting, and calling customers.

Is the phone worth the price tag?

I had a devil of a time shelling out $400 for this thing when it was new.

What are y'all's (#Texas) opinions?

Try an iPhone, you can still access all you're mails, calendars etc by logging into your Google account.

I went the other way, after the iPhone 5 I went Android and have never had the problems you have, I have a Google Pixel 2 running a Beta version of Android P and find it fabulous. My other devices are a Mac Book Pro and iPad, they all work together seamlessly, you should have no problem going the other way. Is an iPhone worth nearly $1K? Not to me, YMMV.

Disclaimer: I'm a huge Apple fan.

I've had iPhone's since the very 1st generation and currently have the iPhone X. For me it's always been the ease of use and integration with all of my other Apple products. If I edit a document, make a new note, update my calendar, send a text, set a reminder, take a picture, delete emails, etc...it's seamlessly updated real time across all my devices. You guys may laugh, but I currently have about half a dozen Apple devices that I regularly use.

-iWatch
-iPhone X
-iPhone 7
-Apple TV

Which iPhone?

I have a X, but don't think it's a $1000 phone. Friends say the same about the 8's.

I don't have the Apple universe and use my phone for pretty much what you're looking for. I think you'll probably be happy with the 7 family. It has the features, and the price is more reasonable.

If you're going to get an Android and don't mind paying a premium (but still less than iPhones) get yourself a Samsung Galaxy S9.

I haven't had any issues with my S7 or S9, with the exception the S7 battery. Samsung replaced it 2 months after original 24 month warranty expired.

I found other brand Android phones aren't as reliable.

I've had both and prefer Android. iPhones have horrible DRM and you need to use iTunes way too much to do simple thing like watch movies or upload files (or at least it was like that when I had one). With Android there were no restrictions, just plug it in, drag and drop the files and play them.

You might want to check out the UI. Both Android and Apple have world class UIs, but you might prefer one to the other. I personally like the control I have with Android and the many mods that can be done. Apple is just too generic and limited in scope.

I second the S9 or S9+. But whichever you go with, Android or Apple, get a good case and screen protector. I use Spigen and the new Whitestone screen protector. Whitestone is expensive, but if you are going to spend 1k on a phone, it is worth in. Because it is affixed with a liquid (which can easily be removed), there is no glare and it looks exactly like the stock screen as if nothing is there.

All of the iPhone iTunes stuff you mention hasn’t been the cast for the last few years. Significant updates have made file transfer/sharing uploading easy. Hasn’t been a need to connect to iTunes for a very long time.

Too me it comes down to the software not so much the phone. Android vs. Apple, you’ll have fans for both.

I honestly think the hardware is about the same these days to your average user.

I’d say if you like the Android platform, try a Samsung 7 or even an 8.

Don’t forget if you buy direct from Apple you have a 14 day return period even if it’s open. You could also go to there free training classes called “Today at Apple” to help you get comfortable.

You could always look at an iPhone SE or 6s/7 they will be getting a big speed improvement with iOS 12.

I would find out what the consensus is between your business partners and largest clients. Most of the staff at the company I work for and a lot of our clients use the iPhone so it made the decision easy for me as to which phone to get.

I’m an Apple fan. I’ve tried Android and went back to Apple. Apple is simple and just works. The family has 3 iPhones, 3 MacBooks, an iPad, 2 Apple watches, Apple TV and 2 iPods. They all work seamlessly together. My 78 year old dad has an iPhone and iPad with no issues. Make the switch Karl. You’ll be happy!

I would take a 3 year old refurb iOS with 3mo warranty in Rose Gold with Hello Kitty stickers on it over ANY of the latest brand new Android devices 64gb and up -- regardless of MSRP unless I could immediately flip it for an iPhone.

I'm no photophile or tech geek, but after I got my iPhone X I immediately noticed how much better the photos were, especially those taken in lower light. Sometimes strikingly better as compared to the same pictures taken by my then-iPhone 7 (which is probably still my overall favorite as far as other functionality) just to prove to myself it was. The higher photo quality is probably the only thing I like about the X. My other is an 8 now, and I don't really know if it has the same picture quality/resolution as the X.

Is the $1000 price tag worth better photo quality? By itself, not to me, but for anyone into it (especially for landscapes etc) it's probably worth a look.

OP, if you get an iPhone (no matter which model) it's easy to switch on the function (right away or later) that will automatically upload every picture you take to iCloud storage after you set up your account. If you ever get another device they'll all be there for viewing by any of them pretty effortlessly. If you want to email/send them to others/save the to files the way it's set up makes it pretty easy even if you don't have any other Apple devices.

Samsung does sell more affordable phones, especially in markets like China and India, but the Galaxy and Galaxy Note lines aren't exactly cheap

I admit Samsung isn't that sexy. I also have an iphone X which is a great phone and definitely the best Apple phone I've ever used. But both brands (Apple, LV) feel diluted to me. The average American household has ~$10,000 in credit card debt, which is more than enough for an iPhone, macbook, LV monogram canvas purse, and a Canada Goose parka

Use it for pics ,music, videos , tv , calls and
everything in between...
I was thinking of upgrading to the X but decided to
wait as the upgrades are minimal and not really worth it.
I suggest an iPhone 7+

You can buy a new unlocked Samsung phone at Walmart for less than $100. Not their top of the line models, but their entry level smart phones are ridiculously cheap - darn near disposable.

Apple doesn't flood the market with cheapo phones like Samsung does, which creates a much different brand perception than Samsung.
