Congrats OP.
40mm is a game changer for the DD. This new size, I feel, opened up a market that the 36 alienated.

Congrats on an amazing watch. The quintessential Rolex.

I’m not a gold except white gold fan however congratulations a beauty! You made the right decision the 40 is superb. The 36 is too small I think these days. Great watch enjoy.

For me, thats the ultimate watch. I can’t understand how sellers “push” this supreme work of art with other ss models as a combo deal.

I first started wanting one shortly after purchasing my first Rolex (TT Datejust) in 2001. Got real serious after the 40 came out and was waiting for the White Dial. Once it was released I’ve been thinking about it weekly. Got luck y and found an AD with a White SS Daytona and bought this and the Daytona at the same time. I think my watch buying days are over!

Most of my collection is vintage so I'm used to a smaller watch. In a DD I was sure I'd go for the 36mm, but after trying on this exact DD40 configuration I might be converted. I felt it wore a fair bit smaller than the DJ41 and man, those romans are spectacular. The romans on the 36 are so disappointing in comparison, not to mention the new movement and ceramic bushings in the bracelet.

You bought a DD 40 and Daytona at the same time. Bloody. Hell. Well done indeed.

39-40mm with no Crown Guards is a great size.
