Hrvatskaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I saw about 40% of the match...
I think England played better in the first half, but after the Croatia goal, they woke up and played well.

And i don't really follow much soccer nowadays. I followed it a lot more back in the old country and while living in Germany. Life is just too busy here.

I try to keep up with big games, but also, not much has changed...

(don't throw stones at me)
coming from participating and watching motorcycle racing for the last 10-15 years, it's kind of pathetic to see the players roll on the ground and stall the game. Any player, any team. LOL like,

oooooooooooooooohhhh he touched me. i must roll here for 125 seconds and hold my leg.
oh shit, which leg should i hold? hm, don't remember. i'll hold the right leg. *replay goes, nobody was anywhere near the right leg... but hey, we just stalled 125 seconds.

Good game, England!

May the best team win the cup!

I cant believe it. England was shattered in 2nd half, defence was poor and Croatia had the upper hand.
However France will wipe the floor with Croatia and Belgium will thrash England again in the losser's game.

No, it was Stones who was surprised and asleep, but his first mistake all tournament so we'll have to give him that, he's not a natural defender yet.

Tough one for England but Croatia deserved to win in the end, they created the better chances. England still lack real quality and ball control in the final third, been our problem for twenty years and a lucky draw and lots of enthusiasm got us this far but we're a QF team at best.

Think this was a bit of a mercy killing as I think if France turn up then they should win the final quite easily.

Modric played well after their goal but was quiet before, and Rakitic was average, they are both going to have to really step up against Pogba and Kante who are the best midfield in the WC by a mile.

My players of the tournament were Cavani and Hazard, and now are Pogba and Mbappe, but Modric could steal it if he wins them the cup.

I completely agree with this. You just laid out the top 5.

EDIT: Kane was good, too, though pretty quiet in the Croatia match... except for the almost goal moments after the Trippier free kick.

Isn't by the rules golden ball decided before the finals, so at the voting no one will know if Modric will win the WC?...

Modrić is the logical choice, but I believe they will give the golden ball to Mbappe because they need another marketed big superstar after Messi and Ronaldo...

Those were mine, but I think the official GB is after as there is still betting on it. Mbappe is the clear leader and Modric second, so the final is key so hope it is after that. Griezmann is way too high at third, should be switched with Varane and Pogba.

I know it's yours... I was given information in 2002. when Kahn received the Golden Ball despite he get two goals in the finals, that they end the voting before the final game... but maybe it was a misinformation...

I found the official rules...

The Golden Ball will go to the competition’s best player. FIFA will announce a shortlist of ten players after the semi-finals. The Technical Study Group of FIFA will decide on the winner until the end of the Final. The players who finish second and third will receive the adidas Silver Ball and adidas Bronze Ball respectively.

I root for Modrić...

I am still bummed over England losing.

Did they run out of gas in the second half?

Unless they were running on Diesel. In that case, they ran out of Diesel

I read Man Utd are interested in buying Harry Maguire for £50m... wonder how much Varane would be, might be worth paying double.

Real preparing £150m for Hazard. Looks like he wants to go.

France -110
Croatia +375
Draw +225
Over/under 2

Hope Croatia wins, love the under dog value here although I hope it’s a great game
I think France wins The Cup though. Exciting games through out the tourney

The estimated cost of this World Cup was over $14.2 billion which makes it the most expensive World Cup ever

The winning team gets an estimated $35 million prize money, the runner-up about $25 million, and the participating teams each get an $8 million
