To be fair, some of the people here are those blue collar guys.

My 2 cents, usually when you get a quote like that the guy doing the quoting is super busy. So he quotes you high and if you fall for it, he takes the job....

It depends where you are. Skilled labor is quite a bit higher up north (everything is expensive up there).

My parents had their house painted before they put it on the market (Chicago area). It was over $10K for interior walls and millwork. Same job in my piece of Arkansas would have been less than $2K.

Can you ship some of your contractors to SoCal, please!

My sister had her 2 story home, similar square footage, done two years ago by a well regarded company here in town, and it was around $6,000. Pretty sure that included the wall around the back, too.

All I have to say is that you pay what you pay for.

Paint and lighting make the most difference in home improvements, IMO

I had another guy over earlier this evening. It’ll be interesting to see how much tap there is, if any.

$15,650

Our house is a 3500 sf story and a half with the whole main floor exterior being brick. We had painters scrape and pressure wash them paint for $3000. We bought the paint. House is hardiboard. We spent about $500 on paint. Sherwin Williams Emerald for the body and their Emerald urethane trim paint. Good stuff.

We are in central Indiana and labor is pretty reasonable here.

Exactly. Everything comes with a price. Don’t expect to get the guy with 200, 5 star reviews on google to be price comparable with “donkey john the painting pro”. I see that all the time.

Everything comes with a price. You dont want your expensive floors scratched, dented, painted etc. that takes prep work to keep that from happening. No matter what the trade.

Its also hard to nail it down from region to region. Prices vary greatly .

Should have put on the Timex and left a sofa on the lawn when you get a painting quote.

May not be a bad price if it is prepped, primed and sprayed plus backrolled or rolled with two coats of quality paint. Disregard quotes from southern states. Proximity to Mexico does affect labor costs.

My house in Denver was $4,200 for eaves, soffits and about 500 sq. Ft. of batten siding. This was a 20 year Behr paint. Five years in and we are totally gutting our house. Residing with Hardie and the contractor was asking why since the paint looks brand new.

My mountain home price for three interior rooms with 15 foot ceilings was $3,600. Again, labor cost factored into the price.

Quality on both jobs was excellent so dont go for the cheapest.

Significantly less but less don't always mean a good thing. Going for number three anybody?

Personally I might want to start doing some research as to why this might be.

Since you have seen his work and it was as you described I would ask him just once if he could do any better, then go from there. If he can't I might still go ahead and have him do the work.

I didn't see that but then again I didn't even try to read all of the posts.
