What makes you feel really blessed?

Lots of things make me feel blessed. Family, friends, health, my wife, my job, travelling, I'm thankful for all that but there's one thing that makes me feel really blessed. Believe it or not is when I get home from the grocery store. I never had many restrictions in my childhood and the family always had a good financial situation, but getting older I notice that this is a special moment for me. We don't have the tradition to say grace here everyday at meals like our american friends, but when I get home from the grocery store I fell the need to look up to say thank you . How about you? What makes you feel really blessed?

Up to this point I have been healthy and am blessed with good genes as both my parents are alive and healthy. My children are healthy and happy. I have a wonderful wife that I love dearly and an amazing mother in law.

Not the moment when I thank, but truly important.

Being blessed with children and a loving wife, loving family and friends. Also blessed to have quite a privileged life.

Got rushed to hospital one Tuesday and spent 2 nights in there. Quite frightening at the time and really makes me realise how blessed I am. Fortunately I’m home and recovering.

1. Having my family not far away, and in good health.

2. Having my own health and free will.

3. What I do for a living. Kids come and fill my classroom every day for what seems like English learning. I get their attention for 90 minutes. While I teach English, I can create rapport, instill leadership, encourage inner strength, and show them what success without excuses looks like. I get to be a proactive force of good. It's an amazing gift, and I value it because thank you's are few and far between.

Good thread, Flavio!

For me, a job that provides for my family, the ability to invest in my future financial security, a wife who loves me, and the appreciation from our three cats that we rescued from a shelter.

Having my 'marbles' intact (to a certain extent).

No dementia or Alzheimer's (yet).

All of which allows me to maintain an inquiring mind in regards to everyday life (along with a certain degree of suspicion & contempt towards some of those in charge of running 'the show').

From the roof over my head to the food on the table. A few months ago I was in Cuba on a solo trip, and all of a sudden, while sipping on a beer, it hit me: "I'm pretty damn fortunate".

Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells
And schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When our three sons are all home and we sit down for a meal. That is a special time of grace.

Those would likely go the other way.

Frankly gratitude is easy to come for in my life. I like the exercise of using the alphabet and coming up with a least one thing to be grateful for each letter. I haven't needed to do that for a while because I see so much to be grateful for all around me.

To even take it one step further, some of the apparent worst things in my life have been the best for me. I try not to spend time worrying about the path my life is taking. I accept a power greater than myself and trust that my life will be used towards good. This is truly my perspective.

I don’t mean to get philosophical, but depending on your definition of the word, I don’t feel blessed.

Lucky...yes.

Blessed....no.

This is an awesome thread. Too often in this crazy world of ours, we get caught up in thinking about all of the things we lack. It’s truly important to focus on all of the things we should be grateful for.
