Watch Leasing companies exist?

Example. lets say I want a patek...or an audemar. I really don't feel like buying/hanging on to it.

Just like exotic car clubs is there a company that leases watches?

Riskier Idea as watches can walk, but with the right vetting process in place it would be an interesting concept.

I know in my life I won't get to own every watch I want or....just wear it for a month. Being able to pay "X" to switch my watch every month for 1-3 years would be something I can get behind.

Subscription based model.

Google search https://elevenjames.com/

If I remember this was discussed here on TRF when it first started. Interesting idea.

As with leasing a vehicle, I dont see the point. After 2 years of leasing even a 'low end' Explorer II from elevenjames for instance, you can own it. If you discontinue the service you have nothing to show for it.

this comes down to buying/leasing argument. Some people simply don't like outlaying so much capital at high prices. So they rent or lease to have the vehicle....property without putting in so much capital.

not for everyone..but for housing I rent a place in a new city every year...why? because its fun.. Change of scenery...and if I don't like it. Oh well I can bail easily.

Renting watches...well people buy used a lot so doesn't matter, same with cars. Never would rent a suit lol ...

this argument goes on and on.....but there is a reason why mercedes is doing the subscription model

Younger people regret buying houses....and only want things for a short time. The market is huge

I would personally use this service to get a feel for a watch that I'm looking to buy but cant find one in person to try on... yes, i'd rather spend 100-300 bucks to rent it for a month and see if i actually like the watch and its not the "novelty" of having it vs. drop thousands and have to take a hit on the resell... thats just my opinion...

I did Eleven James for about six mos just for this reason. I just wanted to "audition" some things that aren't readily available. It actually worked out nicely because it helped solidify what I was interested in and what I wasn't. When I was done with it I cancelled and didn't have to deal with selling watches I didn't love. Not for everyone but it was a good entry point for me.

ya thats the way I see it....Look I own some pieces I like them, but don't want to keep selling them off to get something I would enjoy...but not super crazy about.

Leasing or renting watches is something that I'm just not interested in, especially in subscription form.

Of course, I have more watches than I can give sufficient love to and I'm getting old enough that spending any more on watches is not that good an idea.

I will purchase an inexpensive watch now and then if the notion strikes and I really like the watch and there's always the possibility that I might see a used luxury watch for sale that rings my bell.

Sometimes, I just can't help myself.
