Skyrocketing AD price for BLNR

Is it normal for ADs to increase prices like crazy within 12 months?

Are ADs allowed to charge above SRP?

This is what has happened in the UAE lately!

Let me give you the numbers

Aug 2017 - $8147 (10% discount given on SRP)

Jan 2018 - $9482 (no more discount + new 5% vat) - so not really a price hike

Aug 2018 - $10408 (including vat)

Let me know your thoughts!

My thoughts are, if you want the watch at that price then buy it.

If you do not want to pay that price then don't.

Seems to be a common practice for ADs outside of the U.S.

Rolex should step up and either declare open season or cement the RRP.

Allowing AD's and a Greys to FIX the price point will finish them.

I have >120 watches and Rolex represents about 10%.

There are plenty of other brands as Rolex will find out especially in my case.

I say pass and focus your passion and energy on another
piece/reference...

If enough people stop feeding the frenzy it will stop !
Decreasing demand/curbing ones appetite for such
nonsense despite the marketing ploys of Rolex will
eventually do them in.

ADs are prohibited to sell above MSRP price. It's not legal by Rolex. You can report this AD to Rolex. You may get the watch and pay MSRP price if not less. The last you can do is to let this go. We need to teach bad ADs a lesson.

I purchased from local AD and paid MSRP of $8950 USD a couple of weeks ago.
No AD should charge more then that(except Tax or VAT whatever is applicable to your country).

Also you may search on the internet. Lot of info about it. The best source is to call AD directly, which I did and was confirmed.

The price appears on Rolex.com for people located within the USA and other countries, but it does not appear on the WWW for everyone in all countries. Pricing is not standardized worldwide.

Whatever that is, there is still no source, just an opinion.

Please cite a legal source where something cannot be sold over the "Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price"

Have any of you ever been quoted above MSRP in the US (BNIB from AD)? I haven't been... Haven't read any threads of it occurring in the US either

I have. Instead they sold it out the back door when I told them to stuff it.

Obviously I don't know the story, but it sounds like they knew they weren't supposed to do it, hence the back door
Read your thread on the snoopy going for over MSRP.
I'm sure less scrupulous AD's will try to get away with it once in a while, but from my understanding it's in the Rolex USA/AD agreement to not sell over MSRP.

Gouging consumers is standard retail practice in the UAE.
There may be all kinds of rules in place, but they will be readily flouted, as often happens when there are effective monopolies in play.

AD being the owner of the watch can sell for whatever he wants imo.
Over MSRP is happening everywhere including in the US, but sometimes disguised as a bundling deal

Not sure about the US but it's completely normal in Asia.
