where to get a eta 2824 marathon gsar serviced?

seems I didn't realize you weren't supposed to hand wind these. the movement is definitely in need of a service. hopefully not a replacement.

since it's cost prohibitive and probably not easily to swap a rolex movement into it, I suppose ill go with getting the stock movement serviced.

any places in NJ where you'd recommend? what about shipping it?

That's a new one on me. Been winding my SAR for about 10 years without issue [in fact, wearing mine as I write this].

Any good mechanical watchmaker should be able to service an ETA 2824.

It’s reasonably well known that the reverser wheels on the 2824 (2892 too?) are prone to failing if the movement is constantly manually wound other than the necessary number of crown turns to get it started, before letting the auto mechanism wind the mainspring the rest of the way.

I think I have this very problem with my Squale 1545. I can still manually wind it, it just takes a bit more effort in doing so. I remember reading about this problem after the damage was done!
