Submariner 114060 available for me to purchase?
I have just received a call from my AD to tell me that the Submariner SS 116060 was due in later this week. As being on the waiting list I now have first refusal.
Very tempted to purchase as think I can’t go wrong with look or value. Should I purchase this item or skip and wait for another time? Appreciate your views and opinions from the forum. |

Do you want to buy a watch or not? Not sure how anyone could answer this question but you.

So you ordered the watch you want, waited for the watch, and now can get the watch but you are debating on whether or not you want pass on this one in order to wait for another one... of the same watch? Only you can answer your conundrum. Is it the wrong timing or something? In that case you probably shouldn't have ordered it to begin with until you have budgeted the right time to buy it. The AD would probably take you off the list instead of slotting you for the next available one. |

If we are talking 114060 and you’re on the waiting list, of course you should buy it. Thisis why ADs have huge lists.....people are on it who aren’t serious!!! A good deposit sorts the serious buyers from the tyre kickers. |

Cheers Nairn I am serious but my failing eyesight causes a few typos. I wanted to have a view from the forum and parting with 5.5k is a large amount of money. Love the watch and wanted to know if a good investment too as if needed to sell would I get my money back?

It’s a classic and wears beautifully....you really cannot go wrong. No watch is an investment but your money will be safe. Don’t hesitate, just go for it. |

When I ever get the question "Should I buy <Insert Item Here>",
I have always found myself running and chanting around a bonfire with a can of gasoline as I fling the gasoline into the fire! On a more serious note, I just aquired that exact same model and will say if it is your thing and can still put food on the table, you will be very happy with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

if you're hesitant, then don't buy it.
it seems OP has already made up his mind not to buy and is just waiting for someone to say No to justify of not buying. confusing eh?! |

Sorry I disagree it’s not an investment as seeing the model is fetching 7.3 k currently second hand. The question was should I buy with a view that I could get my money back at worst if I need to in the future.

Yes you can get your money back and some more on top I'd imagine depending on how you keep it.
Does sound strange to say you are on the waiting list for the watch but want to say no, you may end up waiting a long long time for another one to come up.. |

Would you still be interested in buying if the watch was selling below retail second hand ?

If you are on the view of "would I get my money back when I sell" or "is it a good investment" then I think you should go buy a bar of gold or something. People always negate the fact there are others factors you gain out of this piece like enjoyment, etc. Take off the blinders for a second and you'll realise it is a consumer good. Chances are it will drop in value as soon as you walk out the door. If you gain some value at a later date: great. If you lose some money: whatever. The watch isn't going to be worth half or nothing... |

Id say follow up on your commitment and get it. sounds like a little pre buyers remorse which is not unusual, once you own it on your wrist that will change for the better. It cant hurt you at that price anyway.

If you're worried that you may find yourself in a bind, and need to sell it in the future, then it may not be a great idea to buy it in the first place. Though beautiful they may be, these watches are completely frivolous expenses, and should not negatively impact your finances. Now if you think you may end up wanting to flip it for a different watch in the future, I think that's a different story...

I won't lie I am sort of on the fence as well like the OP about buying a sub on Friday..pre buyer's remorse is definitely normal though....there has been some excellent advice on this thread so far.

YES! If you have any thoughts about 5.5k being an issue or potentially needing/wanting to sell down the road, wait. You will always be able to get another one. Regardless of whatever Rolex created SS crisis we are in, its a stainless sub, not a big deal.
