Any members own a Maserati?

I don't own one, and my frugal side keeps steering me away. Plus, their noted poor reliability is a killer. Still, I LOVE those quatroportes. Maybe some day my emotions will beat the crap out of the rational side of me and I'll be in that front driver's seat.

They look and sound great but other than that I think there really isn’t much else to love about them. A friend of mine has a Ghibli that I’ve ridden in but I don’t think I’d ever buy one... and I love Italian cars and motorcycles.

Lots of them around. A buddy has over $1million of new cars in his garage. I forgot what Maserati he had but it was a large blue one with white leather. He didn't keep it long, hated it. Said Maserati service was awful. What I remember was the seats had blue stains from his wife's jeans. Never saw that before.

Leased a 2014 Ghibli SQ4, one of the most unreliable vehicles I’ve driven. Rattles, electrical gremlins, fouled injectors to name a few.

A friend had a Ghibli. It broke within 15 minutes of leaving the lot. He couldn’t wait to get out of it.

Another friend has a Quattroporte GTS. Beautiful car. Hasn’t had any issues with it so far.

Nowadays they all have Ferrari engines. More reliable (fortunately) than before as a consequence but quite expansive for parts and maintenance.

My BMW leather seats picked up the dye from my jeans too. I guess it can happen to any maker

Not even close! It goes to Bentley. Look at depreciation of Bentley cars, it speaks volumes.

Its a status symbol car, I have never met a Maserati enthusiast who continues to buy them over and over for the love of the brand. They lease cheap and offer huge discounts on new ones for good reason.

A crown vic is probably way too expensive over here, €1.78 per liter of fuel. Can't afford to drive a V8 lol

This is very true in LA. I feel like in the past 18 months I've seen a huge surge of Ghibli's on the street. I see off-white (not sure what Maserati calls their cream/ivory color) ones all over in west LA. Dealers know these cars are very popular around here because they serve as an entry point for people who love the luxury brand but likely can't swing more (think about all the BMW 320i's driving around in LA). Awhile back (after noticing the Ghibli's are literally everywhere) I did some research online. Looked at dealer promotions in the greater LA area. A lot of guys have been offering "specials" on this car with some headline attention-grabber price that's under $500/month. Not till you get to the fine print (cash down, mileage/year) of these ads do you realize how they're trying to lure people. I know this true to an extent with all lease promotions, but the disconnect between the headline monthly price and other terms of the promoted lease seemed bigger than usual with these "deals".

I remember looking at the Ghibli's a few years ago when I was in the market for a lightly used sedan. Love the lines/exterior design of both the Ghibli and the Quattroporte. To be candid, I found the interior/center console area of the Ghibli to be hideous. I ended up going with a BMW (after also considering a MB and Audi at similar price-points).

That is what I have heard as well.

I've had a couple pass me the last two times I've gone for a run and the sound is most excellent. Styling doesn't at all grab me like a Ferrari does, however. Sounds like no one buys one a second time. I'm surprised they haven't run out of customers.

Barnum is right... one born every minute. Same for Bentley cars too. Even at the 'cheap' used prices, you get what you pay for (big trouble, big repair bills, etc).

I guess that's the sign of a strong brand. Even though your product sucks and is uber expensive, people buy it!

I wonder if the marketing teams have internal presentations where they show graphs depicting poor quality but increasing sales?

Yeah, people buy it once and then never again. Not sure thats a sign of a strong brand but more hype and money than brains. My neighbor has one, I roll my eyes ever time he drives by and tries to sound off his motor. Such a tool.....
