Rolex datejust rose/steel

Hi,

I'm sorry if I post this totally in the wrong topic.
But I hope maybe someone can help me..
My mom passed away and before she passed away she gave me her rolex. It's a gold/steel datejust 36mm with a jubilee bracelet.
I'm wondering if it would be possible to change the watch into a steel one if I change the bezel, crown and bracelet?
I emailed a local watch dealer and he refuses to help me (because it's a 90's watch and he says he can't help with an old watch..)

What is your opinion on this? Could it be possible? I'm a young girl and I think the watch is still a bit ''mature'' for me so that's why I want to change it, but still want to wear my moms watch if you understand that..

If you change the watch like you said it is not your moms watch anymore.
If you don't like the rose gold I would advice to sell the watch and buy the watch you want with the money you get out of the sale and remember your mom with the new watch.

Rolex will not modified beyond original configuration from one metal to a differing one, furthermore they will refuse to service a modified watch as is. I understand your intention however a Rose Gold and SS Rolex DJ is a fantastic looking watch. I was in Miami South Beach a little while ago and I saw a young lady maybe 21 with one and it looked amazing.

Yes, there is nothing old fashioned about a TT and don't do something you are going to regret

I would go look at some watches that you would want in person. Find it and see what your watch is worth. If you can do it, trade and have the watch that works for you. There will still be a link between your mothers watch and the one on your wrist as it will have provided for you.

Sorry about your mother.. but I really think you should just keep it as it is . The two tone will grow on you . I also think you might regret modifying such a personal gift from your mother

I say keep it as is. I’m sure that you can buy a SS Datejust at another time and I feel that you might regret modifying your moms watch.

Condolences on the passing of your Mother. In addition let me join the others in saying you should not modify the watch in any way.Even if you don't wear it you will enjoy the memories it brings and the tear in your eye every time you look at it.

Sorry for your loss. Do not modify it, you will likely regret it later. I inherited my fathers DJ and at first I was lukewarm to it. As it grew on me I learned to appreciate it more and more. It's the most important piece in my collection and will remain so forever.

My condolences.

Just keep it as it is, at least for another year or two before you consider selling it / trading it for something else. If you regret selling it, it will likely be impossible to ever get it back. At one point you may even want to pass this watch down to your daughter.
