I agree.

If you look at the 12 o’clock inverted triangle hour marker, and compare its relative position to the printed minute hashes, it also looks skewed to the left. So IMHO it’s the angle of the picture that is fooling you.

It definitely appears a gnat's hair to the left in that picture. Like someone said above, once you've seen it, you cannot unsee it.

Conclusion: take another macro head on and if you can still see it, send it back to Rolex and get the bezel replaced. Assuming it's from an AD, there's no need to get the authenticity checked.

it is an optical illusion the side closest to the camera will appear bent. it isnt it is a straight line.

i dont think it is a steady picture either, just look at the top of the triangle above the pearl. it doesnt even look even.

Today’s phone cameras are capable of amazing zoom shots and magnification that will make anything look terrible, things that to human eye would be perfect.

I bought a like new Tudor BBR from a trusted seller here. Upon inspection when I picked it up from fedex it was fantastic. Then I took some photos of it and left it in the car when I arrived at work. During my break I looked at the photos and OMG, huge dent on the case where bracelet meets the logs, a spring bar scratch of sorts. Sent the pic to the seller who immediately said he would take it back and apologized for probably missing it. I said I will check out the actual watch later in the day as I didn’t see it either and will let him know.

Went back to the car later and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t find the ding/scratch with naked eye. I took out the phone and zoomed in and took a picture, and it was there. Even knowing where it exactly was, I couldn’t see it with my naked eye. Let the seller know that I was completely satisfied by the purchase and would be keeping he watch, and also really appreciated his immediate confidence inspiring response. I was embarrassed a bit for scrutinizing a used watch under such magnification when the watch looked and was absolutely perfect in real life.

At these zoom levels and powerful pictures, a slight rotation of the hand holding the phone and misalignment of the camera lens vs photo subject can make things look misaligned. Shadows also play a big role in perception.

Even if I found a slight misalignment on the perl under that level of magnification, it wouldn’t bother me. I know dials are hand made (based on Rolex factory videos on YouTube) and a slight misalignment of hour index placement or Perl on bezel only seen under zoom wouldn’t bother me one bit.


The perl is a raised piece, so slight angle of view tilted to the right will make the top edge of the perl look like it is sitting beyond the triangle on the left side.

Thanks all, I am pretty OCD about it - took it back and the service center people were so nice (you expect nothing from Japanese services) - picked it up again and it is perfect! Might sound silly but man that was a mistake to look into every single details of your watch trying to find flaw... this is a “disease” type hobby ... sigh ..yet we all keep coming back

Regardless if this is an optical illusion, I definitely don't agree with the comments about letting it go. If something's not right, I'd get it resolved. I'd do the same with a $10k lens, a Rolex or even an Orient, but that's me, Mr. OCD.

No. I own several 6 digit Subs, and could never spot something so insignificant as that purported "flaw". Certainly not with my 55 year old eyes and glasses. Guarantee the OP could not see this with his naked eye until he either used a loupe or smartphone camera and expanded the pics. Your OCD must really hinder your life activities.
