I believe the sequence goes:

Lies
Damn lies
Statistics
Specifications
Sales
Marketing
Management
Politicians
Priests

(The last one is my own personal opinion, and not that of RolexForums, please do not un-holster your weapons)

Because, like, some customers that also say 'stoppid' things, they're human.

Judge not, lest ye too be judged, eh?

How is this for stupid-
Last week I picked up the second of two Rolex I purchased in the last 10 months at a local Rolex Boutique with several satellite stores. The total expenditure was just over 40K.While the watch was being sized I engaged my salesperson in a discussion of availability. The conversation was soon reduced to what are you interested in? I said I was not interested in another watch at this time but if there is a new GMT-Jubilee or white ceramic Daytona in the vault I would buy one or both today. "Those watches are held for favored customers who expect us to have what they want when they come through the door. Unfortunately you will never be able to buy those watches here." Notice there was no denial of having the two "hot" references in the vault. Hurtful and stupid but honest none the less!

The issue of availability is the AD business practices not Rolex production. Yes the expansion of the Asian market has an impact but not to the degree we are experiencing.

a southeast US AD told me that they have models like this "available" should a VIP or established customer request one.

They sell to a lot to musicians agents. I know one of them and was told to give em a call when talking watches.

This is exactly what the dealers have to do. Big clients deserve the availability. Period. Now, what constitutes as a big client, depends on the particular dealer and region..etc.

In some areas, the $40k spent and being a cool, patient and non neurotic type of dude would put you on the list ( yes that matters) unfortunately where you are, that doesn't seem to be enough...which is a drag.

Rolex is definitely limiting distribution of references. Dealers need to act accordingly. There are plenty of other great Rolex options for the general public.

The guy is just stating alternate facts...

Remember the Truth isn't the Truth!

I wonder how many watches that sales person sold to rich dummies...I have this strange feeling that his number is greater than 0.
