Incoming - 6139 and 6105
In the early 70's, my dad bought a couple of nice Seikos. A 6105 for himself and a 6139 for me. I was 13 yo - it was an awesome, incredible gift that I wore for many years. The 6105 was on his wrist for a couple decades. About 10 years ago, he gave it to me. Both pieces had sat in drawers, closets, and boxes for many years and were in dire need of service.
I sent the watches to Spencer Klein for full services. He did a fantastic job. Uncle Seiko provided a waffle strap for the 6105 and president bracelet for the 6139. Very happy! My dad passed away a few years ago and I know he'd be just as happy to see them ticking as new. For now, I'm going to put them into my regular rotation. Before and after pics... The 6105 is such an awesome watch. Both look magnificent. I’d love to have Spencer give the same treatment to my 6139 but he’s got so much work he says he has no idea when he’ll get to it. More than a year, probably.

I sent my watches to him in June 2017 and got them back a couple weeks ago. Last I heard is he's not taking new work for a few months. It's a nice position to be in.

Regarding Spencer Klein's costs:
I think they are reasonable considering how well he knows these watches. For instance, in the original movements there are arbors whose bearings are simply a hole in a brass plate. He vastly improves this by machining and inserting a jewel into the plate. That kind of mod makes the watch better and I'm not aware of others that do it - although there might be. His basic movement service costs are good. Because of the nature of old watches with varying degrees of service, he tacks on costs based on requirements. The hardlex crystal reproductions he does are part of his business. Not sure if anybody else does them, but they are beautiful. |

Yes the 6105 of yours is a beauty.
I'm looking forward to the day Seiko makes a re-edition of that model.
