Unfortunately, it's not just a fake it's a very poor quality fake. Sorry.

hey Kentucky I feel sorry but the importance of a present is not in its price and especially the giver might not know, so it has a sentimental value..a very good friend once went to China and brought me a fake as a gift and told me so..I really treasured it and am still sad how I lost it on a beach trip..but I loved it a lot..hope this helps.

I don't know guys hold on a sec, take a look at the movement! I have heard about this white plastic before, I think this might be a new ref. Rolex is putting out in 2009!

I'm sorry to Joke Kentucky, Maybe stick around the site and educate yourself on the ins and outs of Rolex. TRF is a great resource for information. There is a lot to be learned. You will be able to spot a real one from a city block away.

Well as long as you like it thats all that matters:)

However just to let you know, i would not pretend the watch is waterproof or water resistent to that effect, just to let you know. :)

You could always have it checked if you want.

It may look nice to you but typically these fakes don't last long. And they are never worth fixing. The one you have is a very low level fake. Look at the lume (white portion) of the 12 o'clock hour marker - the inverted triangle. Do you see how it is not centered properly - kinda like turned? You never see that with the real Rolex.

I hope no one paid a lot of money for that watch. They typically sell for 20 dollars in Chinatown and you can usually talk them down.

You can also usually tell its fake by the weight of it. The low level fakes always feel really light compared to a real Rolex.

Yeah exactly someone shut down this post please.

If Yachty, Explorer II, and Submariner had a kid - that is what it would look like.

Yikes, that's a pretty bad fake. It looks like a few different watches pieced together. I hope whoever gave that to you spent no more than $10 on it.

Its really very hard to know vintage watches..some of them are so rare that its the first time people see it...

How do you figure????

That's like asking out a girl who's not into you who thinks she's doing you a favour by going out with you on a dinner-date so as not to hurt your feelings, but then when you drop her off after the date, she goes over to your best friends house and has sex with him!
