Just got back from Europe wearing my 116500.
Went to Rome on a Celebrity Greek island cruise. Had to sneak away from my friends to check out a few ADs in Mykonos, Malta, etc (they think it’s weird I wear watches). The ADs were dry of all sports models. Felt very safe wearing my Daytona but we took a wrong turn in Palermo Sicily where we got lost and it kept getting worse. I was pretty certain we would be in trouble and the watch was the least of my worries but we made it through ok. Beautiful places especially Santorini and Malta.

I live in Europe and here we always hear about how unsafe it is in the US. The US have the highest amount of incarcerate people compared to population. Every known serial killer is from the US, lots of crazy people with guns that massacre other people. If you take the wrong exit on the highway in the US you are done for. if this is true or not I do not know, but it is the propaganda I hear. I have been to the US a couple of times and felt safe enough. Some also once told me the whole continent of Africa is almost as bad as USA and that the country of Somalia is the worst, just like Los Angeles with all the Cribs and Bloods roaming the streets.
I have traveled to both USA and Africa with my Rolex, I felt just as safe there as I do in Europe. I think people just fear the unknown. One can be unlucky anywhere in the world and I think most places is just as safe as the next, except for the continent of Oceania, everyone in the world knows there are no crime there. At least that is what I hear

Is this becoming a trend now? Europeans are after tourists’ rolexes?
They’ll chop off arms too? |

Guys I felt very safe in Europe. Even safer then SF. Yes I got in a bad spot and the watch was the least of my worries and pockets are probably the least safest place.

“Europe is safer than the US” is how your post should have read. I was just in Denmark the week before last. It felt like one of the safest countries I have ever visited.

I worked for the city of Detroit as police officer it is not safe at all! Just like every major city in the USA and the rest of the world. They all have predators lurking for a easy victim If you're gong to play the victim ,you will be a victim ! The primary reason for crime against a person is drug motivated. Most criminals are mostly junkies looking to get easy barter watch,or cash, so they get their fix !

A lot of this simply comes down to common sense irrespective of where you are. Nearly all cities and towns will have places where you need to take care.

These posts are tiresome. In a perfect world, we could wear what we want anywhere. We could take wrist-shots to our heart's content. There would be no crime and world peace would reign.
Sadly it's not. Every town, city, country and continent has it's good and bad places and where millions of people congregate to live or work or holiday, bad people will seek them out. Be vigilant and be aware.

I have worn my watch in many places for many years, never was concerned. The disparity of wealth has grown significantly in the last ~10 years. Watch theft is a thing in many places now. 2 things, 1)our incidence of gun violence here in the USA are absolutely atrocious. 2) I’m sure you just haven’t caught some of your serial killers... remind me where was Jack the Ripper from?

We are all safe, until we are not.
That is the reality. It only takes one individual with a knife or a gun and you are now in a dangerous situation. This can happen anywhere, but the probability is low. Congratulations on your watch, it looks fantastic. However the dust underneath the glass is quite shocking and it does make you question Rolex's QC. |
