Oyster Prince 34 1953??
Hi all,
First post here and I am seeking info on an Oyster Prince 34 that I inherited and have now had serviced at Independent, what I believe is a reputable authorized servicer in San Francisco. I have searched many times on the internet for a dial that matches mine in an attempt to date the watch accurately, to no avial. It was yesterday that I viewed a Hodinkee video interview of Rene Beyer during which he displayed the Rolex that Hillary wore on his expedition. The dials are very similar, that expedition was in 1953. So I come here is get your thoughts on the watch. Photos of both watches are attached. FYI, I did not have the Tudor polished, he did replace the acrylic, but gave me the old one. The serial number starts with 150 and also says 7909 on the back. BTW, I have no illusions about the differences between Rolex and Tudor and see that the Rolex hands and lugs are so much more elegant on the Hillary watch. Just the similarity of dial design struck me. Glad to furnish any further info requested. I am keeping this watch forever, but super interested in it. Thanks in advance! em |

I would say that serial number puts you closer to mid 1950s. Prior to 1959 serial number references are all over the board so there is no way to tie it down exactly.
