I quickly bought the WD just four weeks before the new 116500 came out. Et non, je ne regrette rien :)

Your friend sounds like he has no clue.

Based on this statement alone, I would be leery of any statement he makes.

Is 116520 for people who can't get 116500 and can't afford 16520?

Hell no

Here are some examples why I love the 520 more than the 500

Sounds like your friend is either an ignorant idiot, or a faux-entitled cheapskate who thinks everything should be discounted just for him.

There is a ton of Daytonas all over Singapore, you just need to agree on a price with the buyer and show them the $$$$$.

I don't understand why people complain about the 116520 prices when the 16710 are now in the $10k+ price range.

Epic thread so far. Also, I assumed this was a spoof of the Tudor for people who can't afford a Rolex thread.

I was fortunate enough to both 520s. I found the white 520 wore like a 38.5 mm watch on me. It lasted about 3 months. The black for some reason just didn’t do it for me. It was something about the SS bezel I didn’t like. Now, I own both 500s- the white Ive had for 2 years and the black Ive had a month. I’d NEVER trade either. I totally get those that like the classic look of the 520 over the 500, but I’m just not one of them.

The 500 ceramic version is super cumbersome looking. The 520 is very svelte and with all that steel it’s such a sharp cool look.

It’s all good! I have a 116500 but open to get 116520 if the price is right.

I bought my first Rolex last January, saw the ceramic bezel, but it was always the classic Daytona that I'd come to admire the most, not a fan of the ceramics.

Black dial, 116520 V serial, still blows my mind every time I put it on....

I tried on both 116520 and 116500.
I prefer 116520 in white dial.
And 116500 in black dial.

I think the black ceramic bezel matches better with the black dial. And the stainless bezel matches better with the white dial.

Everyone has different tastes.
To each their own.
Both references are beautiful.

Now, I’ll slowly hunt for the 116500 in black dial.

Can we move this thread to the general discussion section? A Gal Gadot thread, while amazing, does not belong in the Rolex general discussion section.

Seems like 116520 will surpass 116500 prices soon.

Power of discontinued Rolex pieces. Pazzo ..
