Congrats on thr new gear!
Abdullah, If you are thinking of buying a set of better headphones, you really should check out this gear.

I bought it unheard/tested, I'm glad I did.

I'm digging it a lot. A little fiddly, must say. The cord for the headphones is much longer than normal. This is good and bad of course. The volume control on the amp takes some time to get used to.

Or... how about this 1 of 1 pair of Audeze LCD-3 Steampunk Edition. They refused to sell them for many years as they were a show display / conversation piece yet did work to spec. Audeze finally did agree to sell them to this total geek guy... Audeze wtd $5k for them (glasses sold separately).

Hang on Paul, I have to grab something for providing us with your partial resumé!
Ah, there it is…

Now, I will concede that a 4-pole XLR is considered balanced, but the benefits of such a connector in these IEMs is one of convenience and price, as opposed to absolute sound quality.
Given the tone and volume controls, we can safely deduce that the internal circuitry of the box is running in SE mode, not balanced differential.

Likewise, shure user here too. Very happy with them indeed. I use foam tips which block almost all ambient sound so perfect for flying

I've used the foam as well, but for day to day using I prefer silicone

You may be absolutely correct about the convenience and price versus sound quality, I never mentioned anything about it. My expertise was centered on video, therefore I concede there are a lot of people that know a lot more then I do about high-end audio, but I DO know (and was confirming what Andreas said) about the XLR balance issue. Thanks for the admiration video about my partial resume, I’d be glad to post the rest of it if you would like but enough of my bragging. Where does your expertise come from again? Which fortune 100 technical corporation were you Director of Engineering for?

Dang, I haven't been able to get this thread out of my head. I had a pair of Fiio F9 Pro that I lost after a week of ownership, and my Chi-Fi pair of VSonic GR07 have finally frayed through a cable. It had been awhile since I fell into the cesspool of Head-Fi forums, but I couldn't stop once I started....

Reading about the set you got, it seems like the driver set-up necessitates using an amp, and they designed the amp to match. That's awesome!

I decided to bit the bullet and move up the ladder a bit. I'm trying out a brand called Campfire Audio out of Oregon, just put in an order for the Polaris model. Looking forward to seeing how they hold up using a desktop amp vs a portable amp vs the easily losable iPhone lightning to 3.5mm DAC/Amp widget. If they need an amp, I'll probably get another Radsone Ear Studio too.

Hope you're still enjoying your rig
