Easy. A modern GMT is a better choice for a daily use, IMHO.

A SS watch wouldn't be my grail either once I have it and wear it daily.

I've had one going on for 2 years and wanted it for a year before finally pulling the trigger. In the end for a GMT its a very nice piece and I think does itself best as part of a collection. Not to say it cant and doesn't stand on its own, but I'd have to say first a Sub/SD/DSSD than a GMT in terms of the order of acquisition. IMO anyway.

Buy a new BLNR unless you can get a 16710 black, coke or Pepsi for around 7000. While the OG Pepsi is nice, it is honestly not worth 9-10k. Not when considering how much better the 6 digit GMTs are made. The ceramic bezel will last several lifetimes, has better legibility, the maxi dial is better, the 3186 movement is better, the clasp is one of the best in the business and every link in the bracelet is solid.

Do not let the high market price of the new steel BLRO make it seem like an old Pepsi is worth 10k! Also keep in mind that unless someone is offering it with the original papers, it is most likely an espresso or coke GMT with an aftermarket Pepsi bezel to try to fetch more money! There is no differentiator on the reference number engraved on the case. Only the A,B or N with the corresponding serial number can prove that it was born as a Pepsi!

Thanks lecosaire, Im starting to believe that more and more. It seems the only 5 digit pepsis ive seen are closer to 11k if you want unpolished with box & papers, otherwise wheres the value? I spoke with my AD today who is a WIS and collector who agrees to buy unpolished only. I may be able to get a Blnr from him real soon.

BLNR will be an icon from this era of Rolex, however it is not my #1 in the collection. Tbh, I don’t have an absolute best or favorite. I enjoy them all and each has its own place in the lineup for a reason. Sometimes a new piece will be in rotation heavy at first, but the newness wears off....

It’s my “go to” watch because it’s so versatile. I don’t know if I could say it’s my favorite because I have other watches to choose from depending on my mood and circumstances but I will say it checks all the boxes for me when it’s on my wrist.

Tough for me to say it’s my absolute favorite. I’m not really sure what my grail is but it is definitely my favorite all around SS Rolex. I wouldn’t trade mine for anything else SS, Daytona, Pepsi, doesn’t matter. However I would love to have a WG BLRO one day and it would be tough for me to say I prefer a SS watch over that. My BLNR is never going anywhere though. It’s truly the ultimate all arounded for me.

Not for me. Got one for a good buddy of mine and he wears it everyday, absolutely loves it. I couldn’t connect with it. It’s stunning but not for me. I think the Daytona or WG Pepsi might be the best Rolex available today.

Q: Is the BLNR your favorite watch on the market?

No - sorry. My BLNR pretty quickly just became ‘another watch’. But then again - my 116500 isn’t my favorite either.

I sold my 5-digit Pepsi, which I had purchased new and had for 15 years. The BLNR is much nicer in my view.

I got one and stopped wearing my 2006 Pepsi. Just sold the Pepsi because the Batman gets way more wrist time.

It's my favorite GMT currently in production, but it's not my favorite watch overall.

I don't know what a 'best seller' is in the watch. I the world of books that has a definition. OK, so it sells well along with a dozen other SS Rolex models. People (not all) seem to add it to a collection for variety.

I think the bezel is a bit bright to be anything but a casual watch and pairing that with PCLs just doesn't work to my eye. As a casual watch on a rubber strap or brushed bracelet, I would wear one. It just doesn't seem like something that would be "the one".
