used to drink almost a gallon of nonfat a day through HS and college when I was playing football and power lifting. Now I really only drink high calcium almond milk. My 4 and 3 year old dink about a half gallon of organic 1% per day. Probably their primary source of protein since they are not big meat eaters.

Yes, 2% lowfat. BTW, almond, soy and all that other "stuff" is not real milk.

No milk for me. Everyone is different and what they consume affects them uniquely.

5 or so years ago I was at the gym in the morning training with a friend and I was kinda coughing and spitting. Phlegmy would be the best description and he mentioned he used to have that problem when he was using milk in his morning shake. Based on his advice tried almond milk and noticed a huge difference in my throat and lung health. Since then I have slowly changed my eating habits. Dropping Milk/lactose was a big factor in recognizing how I ate effected how I felt.

No judgement if people consume it.

Yes still drink fat free milk daily--mostly in smoothies. It is free protein. Although a arthritis specialist did advise that I may consider eliminating dairy products as it would improve the arthritis condition. Something about reducing inflammation. Have not done the research yet to see if this is something I may try.

I have not drank milk on its own since I was a kid, but I still consumed a lot of dairy up until about 3 weeks ago when I decided it cut it from my diet. I’ll still treat myself to things with dairy on occasion, but i don’t want it to be a part of my daily diet anymore.

I thought giving up cheese and milk in my coffee would be impossible, but it really hasn’t been that hard. My body feels great without dairy... I feel much lighter.

Almond milk with my coffee in the AM. I will still have the occasional iced latte with that horizon organic whole milk if I am on vacation etc. It is a treat but not something I choose to drink on a daily basis.

I switched to almond milk and it has been awesome. I’m even making my own.

Soy milk is disgusting, btw.

Humans are the only animals that drink milk beyond infancy and childhood. And they drink the milk of not only another species, but another genus. The genome for producing lactase, the enzyme which digests milk is turned off in adulthood, so most humans are lactose intolerant. If humans were meant to drink milk, female humans would lactate perpetually. And eating cereal for breakfast would look a whole lot different.

I agree with you, 100%. Now, can you explain why a system is set up to feed this idea (and product) to us? I'm convinced it's not entirely for financial gain.

Yes this is the conclusion I arrived at as well. I don't preach it often anymore because I often ingest alcohol and other dairy like cheese so I have no leg to stand on

I have whole milk on my cereal. I try to stay away from fat free milk. They add dye to make it white because everything else has been stripped out of it.

Nope, and I find the concept of drinking milk, the taste, and consistency absolutely disgusting.

If additives are your concern, dye doesn’t even scratch the surface.

whole milk everyday... not everyone’s body completely stops producing lactase. There are also certain types of gut flora that produce it and break it down for ya! I’ve always been a big milk drinker. However I have known people who have given it up for years and then can’t return to drinking it without some serious side effects.

Circumcision then? Makes not a whole lot of sense.

But I too agree, here in Finland Milk is portrayed as something of a miracle drink. I find it disgusting. Sure I eat a lot of "milk" products such as cheese, ice-cream etc, but milk in a glass disgusts me.

I haven't drank a glass of milk in over 30 years. I eat cheeses, yogurts, and rarely, add milk to cereal.

Circumcision is a ritualistic form of body mutilation. But yes, do you see how society gears us to ingest cows milk as though it’s unnatural NOT TO? Question is.....why?

i agree with circumcision making no sense but on topic... milk doesnt make sense. We drink cow lactation but human lactation is shamed. Why? because its in a cup i suppose. what other species is expected to eat in the toilet or smothered under a blanket?

I see it every time i go to the US as i have kids, 5, 2.5, and 14 weeks. Its natural and it bothers people. We don't care though, we have a legal right to do it and we are a bit militant about it. My wife isnt a hippie either, but kids got to eat. And no they are not all still breast fed. 1 year for each. We aren't weird.

how did you ignore the "Got Milk?" Ad campaign all those years? You totally missed out. I still dont know why the napkin industry didn't capitalize on that with a response. What a gold mine.
