Mugged and in the hospital in Montreal for a GMT

Was helping all morning with my best friend who is on a business trip in Montreal. He was at a meeting last night and ended it at a bar and left by himself. Soon after he exited he was jumped and beat pretty seriously. He is now in the hospital with broken ribs, jaw, a closed eye and numerous scrapes and bruises. Luckily he left his passport in his hotel and also had an extra phone there that he uses for work. His personal iphone, wallet and gold GMT were all stollen. Sad situation and just a reminder to always be mindful of where you are, who you are with and what you are wearing.

That's the worst. Hope your friend has a speedy recovery, and those responsible for his current situation are caught and justice is served 10 fold.

That's awful Eric. Thankfully no lasting damage done. Hopefully all items and Rolex serial is reported to the relevant organisations in due course. It's likely incidents like this that people are in favour of The Purge. From various footage and posting of muggings, majority of the victims seem to be targetted on a merry night out.

damn, another incident.

I know a lot of folks don't think robbery is real in their town... No place is safe. bad people will do anything for your expensive watch. And there are a lot of bad people out there. Watch your surrounding folks.

Even my coworker doesn't know I wear my watch daily at work until I told him while we were chatting about Rolex. I keep it discreet from everyone...

Ouch! Good to hear your friend survives, I heard from some parts of the world people got their hand/arm chop off for a Rolex.

I am sorry to hear of the attack on your friend and his severe injuries. Glad you can be helping him.

Thank you for sharing the wise warning as we all must become more vigilant. A crime of opportunity can happen anywhere.

Really sorry to hear that. Hope he recovers quickly, both physically and mentally.

This situation just goes to show that even in a place like Montreal, we have to be careful about our surroundings.

Hope your friend recovers quickly and that justice is served to those that acted very badly. This is also a reminder to all those that continuously say on this forum that no one ever notices your Rolex/Watch. The bad element out there always notices and when your least suspecting it will do you great bodily harm. Dont ever let your guard down and be careful flashing around your high dollar watches!

Outrageous. I really hope your friend gets better soon and the scumbags are found.

IMHO, goes to show that even in one of the safest countries on earth you're not safe to go to a bar and leave by yourself late at night if you're wearing a gold sports Rolex. It's a watch that gets extremely noticed. If you're drinking, your control of the surroundings gets weaker every glass you have, you don't know who's there and if you have bad people around you, I mean, it should be avoided by all means in the world we live today.
