So I'm in Hawaii...how much should I pay for that GMTIIc?

I arrived in Hawaii this morning...and as a true WIS the first place I headed to after checking in was the Rolex store in Waikiki.

First of all WOW they had a lot of stock, I've never seen so many Rolexes in the one place. As I kept moving along the display cases I came accross the best of them all, the one housing the 'tool' models. And there it was, the GMTIIc looking right back at me.

This was the first time I've held or seen one in person as Melb AD's just never had any in stock. Damn it looks awesome in real life. I love the feel of the rotating bezel, soo smooth! I am reaaaaaly tempted in buying.

Now to my question. What price should I be paying for it?
I think the sales person said somewhere around $7k as the price on the tag.
How much do you think I can get discounted off this? Surely with the current economic situation in the states, AD's would be more leanient in discounting. Also, as I am a tourist am I able to claim back tax or get a tax discount?

I read here that many people from Hawaii buy their Rolex watches on mainland. I doubt you'll find any deals but good luck.

Wish I could tell you that you'll get a sales tax rebate, but I don't think it works like a VAT. Maybe someone can correct me, but I think that will be your donation to the gov't of Hawaii.

Confirmed retail is $7K. Swiss Luxury price is $6,000 if paid by wire, that will be hard to beat in an AD on a SS model.

My watch buying experiences in Hawaii confirm great deals are hard to find. What a way to remember a great vacation though.

Plan on MSRP ($7k) - consider anything less a bonus! I am sure if you play the visitor/vacationer card - you may enjoy a discount.

I was offered $6300 out the door in VA last month. Including the 5.5% sales tax......

It may be possible to avoid paying the sales tax if you purchase the watch as an out-of-state sale and have it shipped to your home. In other words, you will have to wait until you get home to receive the watch. Some states forgo sales tax on out-of-state purchases, I don't know if Hawaii does though.

When I was there earlier this year, there were two AD's right across the street, Patrick James & one with the initials K. K. Both are owned by the same person. Deals can be had there...I was offered $500 off an LV plus no tax when they shipped the box to my home. I would go to Ala Moana mall, Ben Bridge has two huge stores there, Timeworks carries Just about everything!

On a side note make reservations at Alan Wong's restaraunt, it's amazing!

Huh? There's one in LK Melbourne. The price is A$9600 approx inc GST. If you buy in US, you need to declare it on entry back in AUS and that's another several hundred bucks. I would only consider nice vintage pieces in US, but that's just me looking after my wallet

My local AD was retailling it for $7800 USD including the local taxes. Good luck if you do decide to purchase it in Hawaii.

I paid $6,075K form mine about 2 months ago, including shipping/insurance - no sales tax.
