Buying from an AD or a jeweler I know?
I've two questions, to salt away knowledge for when I can afford the Submariner I drool over.
First off, does a stainless Submariner with blue bezel and face actually exist? I've seen it in white gold, but not stainless. Second, there are 2 ADs near my home, but there is a jeweler in town that I am very familiar with and trust. Would it be best to trust the jeweler I know, or go with the AD I don't? |

A Stainless Steel Sub with blue bezel and dial is not currently in production....
One like that was released a couple of decades ago for the Asian market, an original, if authentic and it could be verified, would probably be in 5 figures...

There may have been a stainless steel blue Rolex Sub that was a special order many years ago (though I think this is unlikely) but there's no such model now. Also, I believe blue Tudor Subs also don't exist any more although they did exist in the past.
As for buying from an AD or not, I think a lot depends on price and whether you're 100% comfortable with your jeweller. Personally, I've found that buying from an AD is better because they can deal with Rolex directly if need be (I once needed to void a guarantee card and get a new one issued and the AD did it for me in less than 24 hrs) but as I said, if your jeweller can offer you a good price, then go for it. |

I'll have to think on the dealer when the time comes. I know the one I currently use well enough that I would easily trust them with the six grand, but is it better to go with one Rolex knows... hmm... |
