Lurker who just purchased his first watch

So quick story, I’ve been a member of this forum for over two years now I think. I’ve never posted because I felt I had nothing to contribute. I’ve wanted a Rolex watch ever since I was a kid, my dad had one. My family fell on hard times so he pawned it and wasn’t able to make the payment and lost it. My dad died four years ago and ever since my urge to buy my first Rolex grew more and more. I made some investments and they paid off and today I finally had the money to make such a purchase. Unbeknownst to me I had no idea that the watches I’ve been lusting over are impossible to find right now and that there’s pretty much a waitlist for everything. I called almost every Rolex AD in the tri-state area inquiring about batman’s, pepsi’s And hulks and they all pretty much laughed at me. Long story short, I found one shop who had just received a GMT II less than 24 hours ago and they told me I could have it if I could make it to the store immediately. An hour later (various aggregating phone calls with the bank) and I am the very proud owner of my first Rolex watch. I wish my dad was here, this is for him.

Good buy. A lot of people buy a lot of Rolex over the course of their collection, and come back to the good old GMT II as “the one.”
