My boy is also 3. He’s trashed my SubC in the local swimming baths which hopefully RSC will be able to put right come service time and he dropped my/his DJ from his high chair on to a stone floor putting a huge dent in the crown. Sent from my iPhone |

Hey Danny,
I totally agree with you. I’m getting similarly attached to my Submariner 114060 due to similar circumstances. And it ranks similarly for me as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It is not the watch itself that represents the emotional attachment, but the sacrifice, putting the needs of my family first and foremost, the steps forward and the steps back, until finally being able to put it on my wrist. It represents a long road, containing many milestones in my life, and as my father left nothing of his for me to remember him by but an old red velvet dinner jacket from the 60's (he passed when he was 50), which doesn't even fit me, one day my son will wear my Daytona, he knows how cool I think the watch is, and I hope whenever he looks at it when I'm gone, it'll put a smile on his face and he'll feel connected to me. |

Only one.
An explorer 2 my dad is wearing while fighting cancer. That’s the only watch I’m truly attached to.

I'm emotionally attached to some of my watches for sure.
Comparing to family and other such things isnt really fair, but in the context of inanimate objects ... I cant think of much else that better qualifies. Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

All my watches have meaning to me and I'm not about to let any of them go for any reason at all.

I've had the watch in my avatar for nearly 40 years. It was a gift from my parents and the only way I'll part with it is when I pass it along.

Maylebox you said it. I look at that watch and it represents a dream
Watch I wanted and worked so hard for. I didn’t mean for my post to sound materialist or shallow. Trust me when I say my family and financials come first I would sale anything I own in a heartbeat to take care of them. I just realized that watch meant a lot more to me than I thought. |

I think some people take my post as I could never part with my watch. Some get it and some don’t i guess. Bottom line is it would probably be the last thing I own I would sale if I had to sale all. It represents Alot of Hard work

I will preface this by saying that there are very few things I own that I am attached to. Cars, boats, motorcycles, etc are always for sale if the price is right. My house is for sale if someone wants it. If my house burned down there are very few things that are not replaceable. I am basically trying to say that I don't get attached to "stuff".
All that being said, I am very attached to my 114060. I wanted a Rolex for several years, but just couldn't pull the trigger. I couldn't justify the money. Then, I met my wife. She wanted me to have a Rolex. She told me that I bought her a nice ring and there is no reason why I shouldn't have a nice watch. It was a 30th birthday present/wedding gift. My wife and I purchased it on our honeymoon. I never want to part with it. It means a lot to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I get what you mean. I’m attached to my five digit Sub. It was the first nice watch I bought myself, 18 years ago. I rarely wear it now so I thought about selling it now that I have a BLNR. That thought was scraped after I took it out to wear one last time. I don’t think I’ll ever part with it. Likely pass it to the kids. |

Paul’s post above sums it up. If a watch marks a momentous occasion like a wedding, graduation or special anniversary. Or was a gift from someone special (especially if that person has passed) I totally see the attachment and I could never sell such a watch. Unfortunately I don’t own one acquired in that manner. My kids are young (high school) and don’t seem to be attracted to watches at all. My wife wears an Apple Watch and I have bought her no less than 5 different mechanical watches to no avail. I have even asked her what she would do with them if I died tomorrow. Her answer, “Nothing for a while, then I would call your friend at the AD and have him sell them for me after the kids had a chance to take what they wanted”. Maybe when I hit 50 she will get me a WG Sub and I will feel a sentimental attachment to that watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Yes, my wife got me my Sub as my wedding gift. I also have a Movado auto chrono that my dad gave me off of his wrist 20 years ago.

Yes my GMT 16710 was a gift from my wife. She sacrificed and saved for years to buy it for me.
It's my most treasured possession.

I love my sub and don’t think I’ll ever sell. It’s been a 10 year wait. I guess I’m emotional in that aspect.
I have a DKNY I paid 60 bucks for when I was 16 that carried me until I got the sub. It has been worn daily until this past September. Soon after getting that my mom got me a movado that I thought was it until I sent it into them for a battery replacement and they polished the whole thing and burnt through the gold bezel. Haven’t worn it since. Mom has passed so I have that connection. I look at that DKNY being worth 10 bucks now and the movado a couple hundred. My emotional value is worth more than that. Besides, the DKNY had the damn battery go out again and that’s why I’m Wearing this fake submariner my dad got me in China. Just ask my love in ex lol!!! |
