The 16570 has black marker surrounds and a face that will stay white over time.

I struggled with this exact question. I ended up getting the 16570 because I liked the smaller hands and case, wears lighter and is a little more under the radar. Some of the pros of the 216570 in my opinion are the gmt hand, the lume and the depth of the dial. The 16570 can seem a bit flat with the small makers. On the flip side the dial is expansive and open, almost like a polar tundra.

I preferred the 6 digit for my own. It sits and fits very comfortable and low on my 7" flat wrist. It's 42mm but with the smaller crown guards and crown of the twinlock it doesn't feel that big to me once l bought it and compared it with my SubC

Was able to try on both and went with the 216570. 16570 was comfortable but didn’t feel as robust. Maxi dial and a blue lume sealed the deal for me.

I prefer the 40mm size, so I’d say 5 digit. The 6 digit is heftier for sure, but don’t expect the 5 digit to fall apart on you lol...

If you have 6 digits now in the sub and blnr than go with 6 digit EII. I actually purchased a 5 digit explorer II and had to return it a day later to get a 6 digit instead. Get the 6. You won’t be disappointed.

Well, for me it comes down to the bracelet of the six digit. I will go with the bracelet that has fewer permanent links and easy link. Because after all...you do wear the watch, right?

And for all the touters of the aesthetics of the five digit, I really don't get where you're coming from with the tuna can clasp on the five. That would be a war stopper for me no matter what the face of the watch looked like.

I went back and forth on this for a while. I went with the 5 digit for a few reasons:

1 - I already own modern references, so a 5 digit got me into the "almost" vintage market.

2 - I prefer the red hand

3 - I planned on wearing it mostly on Nato and Rubber B, so the modern bracelet did not sway my decision

Definitely try on both of these in person if you have the chance. To me, they are so different in size, feel and overall aesthetic, that they are not even really close. Looking at them side by side on the internet is fine, but it gives the illusion that these watches are more similar than they really are.

My bias is to the 216570, as that’s what I own. It is definitely a much more vibrant watch than its predecessor. For reference, I prefer the vibtage 5-digit 40mm and 36mm watches to their modern equivalents for virtually every reference beaides the ExpyII.

I went 5 digit early tritium dial on my 16570. My other watches are 6 digits and the Polar gives me a nice vintage vibe. If I still had my collection of 4 digit Subs and GMT's I would have went modern as I like them both. But the 5 just fit better in my current set. Just had it serviced by RSC this year and it is ready for many more years of service!

I’ve owned both and prefer the six digit model for the bracelet, new movement, and larger hands. You really need to try it on in person because (to me) it does not really seem larger than my LV. The lugs taper in nicely as opposed to the square look of the supercase and the stainless bezel blends with the bracelet so it seems smaller than it is. I have a 7” wrist and the size seems fine to me. If I’m really unsure about size, I’ll use a mirror and see what it looks like to others. Watches appear siightly larger (to me) when viewed directly on your own wrist. Buy the one you like, of course. You can’t go wrong with either one.
