Did you know the Daytona does this? Wow my 116500 just got better!

So I was having a 3 day mini break from work in Saudi so decided to visit the German Christmas Markets for the weekend.

Late afternoon when flying I close the window shutter as the sun starts to set and... genuinely after just a second or two exposed to the sun (natural light not held under a torch or anything). I look down and see the most beautiful sight.

I promise you that these photos are not enhanced in anyway and what you see is exactly how it looked like to the naked eye in a low lit cabin.

I don't know about you but I was blown away and a big smile came across my face.

Ok off in search of Gluhwein now, a man can only take so much of being under a drinking ban.

Am I correct to understand that you bought a 116500 without knowing it had Chromalight markers and hands??

Indeed you are correct sir.

I knew it had lume, just never knew it was this good, like I say I was blown away.

Believe it or not lume was not something that I considered or even crossed my mind when putting my name down for this watch many moons ago.

I have many watches of all makes but this glow is something very special indeed and I just wanted to share the photos.

Sunlight through aircraft windows seems to boost watch lume particularly well.

You're traveling with the stickers still on your watch? No, I didn't know the Daytona did that.

That's how it should be. Automobiles aren't delivered with plastic on them either.

The blue lumes look particularly nice against a light dial, as Explorer Polar owners will confirm.

The lume is the main reason I choose watches with lume (now there's logic which can't be argued). I love being able to look at a watch in the dark and see what time it is. Because I wear watches 24/7, lume is always obvious and fundamental to me. Glad you finally see the light!!!

You don't truly own it until you rip the stickers off and enjoy it. Until then, it owns you!

Confirmed. The explorer has really good lume which is amplified by the white dial.
