GMT insert real?
I just bought this cool faded fat font 1675 brown insert on another forum and when I received it I noticed the back of it was not all uniform in color. Any way to tell if this is legit or not? Every other one I’ve seen has had a solid color back. This one seemed to have a bunch of old adhesive or dirt and when cleaned off I noticed the silver coloring.

The backside should be solid brown, and darker than the topside if naturally faded.
Pics are too small for me to tell, but it still could be genuine, just with mechanically and/or chemically induced "forced patina". If you can, post better/bigger pics. |

Do you have a before picture or for that matter - better pictures?
What did you use to clean the back? Could you have removed the paint? |

More pics
The back had some sticky glue like substance that I was able to just scratch off. The front has some chips that I would think would be hard to fabricate. Here are some better pics

Doesn't look right to me. It possibly isn't a brown insert at all but began life as a fake black insert. I hope you didn't pay a lot if it is fake..

Yes, I saw this listed on VRM.
I understand the issue with the light back side but that is one thick font, early production.. Slap it on a watch and don't worry about the back side.. |
