I was dead wrong

I was anti-LVc guy for years. I even went as far as saying it was a "look at me" watch, which I am not whatsoever. It was ugly, too green, and too many other negative adjectives to bore you all with. How could anyone possibly think that watch looks good?? Then something genius happened. I tried it on......and finally understood. I'm sitting here in my sunroom on this cold, rainy Wisconsin day on my old, red, leather, eyesore chair which my wife hates but I refuse to get rid of because I've had it for years and it fits my personality (not to mention it's the most comfortable chair I've ever sat my ass in), and I catch myself looking down at this thing more often than I need to. I've had it now for six weeks and I love it. For those of you who are in the same camp I was prior to making an educated decision, try it on first.

Congrats!
I’ve always said that the LVc, more than any model, must be experienced to get it. I’d even go as far as to say trying it on doesn’t work. You need to live with it for a while and experience it in various settings to really see al that it’s made of.

Enjoy!

I was pretty much the same, only without the red leather part.

The watch seems to be more polarizing than many others. People seem to either love it or simply don’t care for it.

Green isn’t one of my favorite colors so in in the second camp. I can see how one would be fascinated with the face. It’s somewhat like the blue face on my Yacht Master. The blue never looks the same. It’s always shifting. I imagine the green is the same.

I try not to knock things until I've tried them. It doesn't always happen, but with watches I think it really is about as subjective as it gets.

Congratulations. Nice watch.

Congrats! It looks great. That has happened to me with several models. Always try them on before deciding.

agree the Lvc is an amazing watch. I didn't like it either at the very beginning but soon changed my mind after seeing the real thing a few times. Luckily I purchased it 5 years ago from AD with discount, seems unbelievable today. It is beautiful and with so much sentimental value, the last piece in my collection if I would have to part with any.

I totally get it different references but same thing happened kind of ...

In one case I thought the same as you about the Dblue, but tried it on and bought it on the spot. Amazing dial, and wrist presence that you just don’t comprehend from pictures.

In the other case, bought the BLNR from pictures. Tried my best to love it as I thought it looked (and still does) awesome in pictures. I just never bonded with that one.

This seems to be a lot of people in the last year or so. This watch got little love compared to the blnr and now it’s hotter than ever.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s an incredible watch. The green changes hue in every different light.

It's all about old, red, leather, eyesore chair. Try some other chair and perspective of the watch will change . Congrats on the watch

I didn’t feel anything strong for the LV either, had never tried it on before.

Walked in to my AD 3 weeks ago, and he told me he had one.

Didn’t think I was going to like it

3 minutes later I was at the counter paying for it

Nice special day piece

Same thing happened to me but back when it was available in stores around 2015ish. I saw it at an AD and glanced over it looking for a Deepsea. The sales lady urged me to try it on even though I didn't want to I gave in just to be polite(imagine a time like that, when people tried to sell a stainless steel Rolex).

Once on my wrist I said dayamn! This thing looks pretty good, and the more I looked at it the more it seeped into my psyche. I moved around the store and became mesmerized by the changing green sunburst dial. I bought it three months later. Definitely one I regret letting go.
It may come back. We'll see, it's between that and an 114060.

Congrats. The exact opposite happened to me. Loved it on paper, hated it on my wrist at the AD.

It is a nice watch but give it a few months until honeymoon period fades.

I felt the same as you, went from hating it, then I bought it and loved it for 3-4 months, then I started not liking it after the honeymoon period was over.

Agree completely with the OP and others in here. I always thought it was hideous, then I saw it in person, bought it and fell in love with it. It’s so unique, and in the light of day, words are hard to describe the dial.

Never thought I’d move along from my Black Sub, but the redundancy was too much, so I sold it and picked up an SD43. Green Sub is absolutely a keeper, but until you see the sunlight hit it, I fully understand not getting it.

It works very well in a rotation, imo. As a daily, I could understand this point of view, but still disagree somewhat.

Great watch! My history with it was a bit different... five minutes of “that’s unexpected” to two weeks of “I love it” to “gotta have it”....then a few months to flip my white 16570 (those were long months LOL) to purchase. That was 7 years ago and I love it even more today.

I was like that over the Lv and the TT Blue SubC, too green and too blue. Tried the TT Blue Sub on and was hooked ! wouldn't say no to the Lv now either !

Thanks for all the kind words and comments. I completely get it’s not for everyone. My point was to try it before you give up on it. Green is not my favorite color at all and I don’t have much green in my wardrobe, but it doesn’t matter. It can be under the radar when I need it to be and really pop when I want it to.

Hey now! Don’t go knocking my old, faded, red leather chair! Those are fighting words! My wife hates it so much. She tried firing a shot over the bow once on that subject. Once. I’m so, so laid back but that one of the few things I’ve dug my heels in for.

You very well may be correct, but I don’t think so. I’ve been collecting watches for 25 years so I’m well aware of the honeymoon phase. I’m like most on TRF where I’m constantly on the look out for a possible new favorite. I’m always wary of the first six months and never get too attached, but this one feels different than any watch I’ve had.
