Submariner Bracelet Stretch

Morning. I bough a new Sub no date 1 year ago today. I love the watch and wear it almost every day. When my watch was first sized at the AD I had two notches in the micro adjustment to make the bracelet smaller. I now wear the watch with no micro adjustments left, I moved it into the first notch. I haven't lost any weight and I don't believe my wrist size changed much. So my question is, is it more likely my wrist changed sizes or the bracelet "stretched" that much in one year? I have looked at the bracelet closely through a loop, it seems very clean and in perfect condition. When I hold the watch sideways the bracelet droops or sags a bit, not much. I don't remember if I held it sideways on day one if it had the same droop or not. What the most likely reason.

thanks

Your new sub did not stretch in one year.

It is your wrist size. Whether that is weight, temperature, humidity . . . this is not uncommon. Hence the reason for easy link.

Sub has a glide lock, not easy link. Agree on his wrist size changing, perhaps with change of seasons

The bracelet didn't stretch. Your wrist size or your comfort zone changed.

Some peoples wrists change by the hour.
Also you might have not lost weight but your body can still be going through changes.

It's the weather. Ever notice how your wedding band is tight in the summer and loose in the winter? Same thing.

Agree with other responses. A stainless steel modern Oyster bracelet is not going to stretch. The older bracelets on the half-gold 5 model digit bracelets could stretch more because they were hollow loops. The solid link bracelets aren't going to do that. My gold 116618's Oyster bracelet is almost 10 years old and is still spot on despite regular wear in the period.

My 7 year old daily 16610 is barely showing some and I’m real rough. I agree with all the above, I doubt it’s the watch.
If you disagree take a pic of it holding it by the head at 90* and let’s see

You're in Wisconsin, I'm guessing it's weather related. All of my watches are looser in the winter as well..

I routinely adjust the glide lock on my 116610LN, typically once or twice a day and by as much as two notches. It’s a combination of all the factors that everyone else has already correctly stated. The glidelock feature is one of the best innovations ever IMO.

Weather and hydration levels will change your wrist size.

Thanks all. That's kind of what I was thinking. Maybe my wrists did get a bit smaller...all that time at the gym and all. :)

Welcome to November weather in Wisconsin, my friend :-)

Your wrist is smaller because the ambient conditions are colder and drier this time of year.

I agree it is most likely fluctuation is wrist size due to climate conditions.

That said, I am curious about the bracelet "droop" you mention. I have a two-year-old SubC with zero sagging in the bracelet. It's practically as good as new. Where on your wrist do you wear the watch - above the wrist bone, away from your hand, or below the wrist bone nearer the hand? If the latter, that can put more torsion on the pins as you flex your hand and wrist, which could - theoretically - increase the odds of stretch or wear. Wearing it snug above the wrist bone produces more uniform tension and decreases the possibility of stretch. Just a thought.

I do tend to wear it a bit looser and it can slip over the wrist bone at times. I'll work on taking some photos and some calipers to the watch to see how much it moves.

quick test with watch in hand. holding the watch with left hand vertical and move the closed bracelet up and down with right hand. The clasp side of the bracelet moves up and down an 1/8". How that 1/8" of movement compares to a brand new bracelet is the root of the question.

Hold on ... you said you bought a "new" no date sub least year. Many assume that means a ceramic model with Glidelock bracelet, which has no micro notches to adjust. So, I think you mean that you bought a "new to you" 14060 no date sub, which who knows what year or age of the watch.

Can you please send a picture of the bracelet clasp?

The Glidelock does have ridges in the clasp, which could be considered notches, depending on what OP meant. It doesn't have drilled holes, like the older clasps. I assumed OP meant he has to adjust his Glidelock clasp two ridges tighter than he did a year ago to get it to fit the same, and now has no room left to tighten it further.

It's for sure the new Glidelock, I just used the wrong terminology.

So what is the big deal? Pull and link 5mm or 1/2 link and the Glidelock will then give you 20mm in 2mm increments.

A wrist constantly is in flux. It’s impossible, (unless your dead) for your wrist to remain exactly one size.

I think he was just inquiring whether his bracelet could have "stretched," which would be a much bigger drag than his wrist simply expanding due to weather, weight, or other factors.

JacksonStone, yes that is the question. I'm wondering if in one year the movement I am experiencing in the bracelet is standard. Trying to determine if a brand new bracelet has the 1/8" movement or if mine has loosened.

Glad I am not the only one. My comfort and wrist size changes here in Florida quite a bit. Today it is 40 out and my watch is very comfortable. When it’s 80, not so much and a notch or two is needed. On those hot humid days, it can be a little loose if I open it and find my self adjusting quite a bit.

Wouldn’t the weather be extremely similar to “1 year ago today”
