I’ve never really liked the relatively larger bezels on the 40/41mm watches, but I’m guessing Rolex thickened those up so that the dials would wear smaller than they otherwise would. I do think the fluted bezels do a much better job of hiding this trait though.

They are both great... but I like the 40mm better.

I think it's really close. I find the proportions on both to be excellent. Maybe the 36mm Might be a little better.

Both are very nice and work well for different folks depending on your wrist size, etc. I suppose the DD36 is more of a classic look and works better with the stronger presence of YG. Otherwise I would go with the DD40 for all the other PMs. Never was a fan of the larger DD II. Cheers!

It would be nice if someone with a caliper could measure the dimensions of each watch and compare the ratios of bracelet link dimensions versus case, lug, and dial dimensions and calculate the ratios for both so that we can actually know how the proportions differ

This should have been a poll! I vote 40. I think the bracelet on the 36 looks too wide in proportion to the case diameter. When I've compared the at AD's that's the impression I always walk away with. And, really, what else do we have to look at when we visit AD's these days?

Absolutely, I should’ve created a poll instead. Didn’t know how to using the Tapatalk app (but will figure out for next time). Interesting observation on the bracelet width on the 36mm. Many thanks everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Also, I think it depends on the configuration. A YG with champagne dial is great in 36, but I wanted the 60th anniversary dial with Everose. I prefer the 40.

They are both nice, they both fit me well, but I prefer the 36mm. For me, wearing an oversize gold watch around is too much for me. 36mm it is.
