Rolex store closing at HK Airport?
I just read an article that mentioned Chanel will be taking over the large Rolex store located inside the Hong Kong Airport.
https://www.moodiedavittreport.com/l...der-contracts/ Sounds like economics won with the "perceived" Rolex shortage going about. |

and being located within an airport terminal, they don't have a chance to develop many VIP or prefereed customers. They're all transitional. I've never been to HK airport, but I've always had good luck finding desirable models at airports and tourist locations because they're "hit or miss".
Maybe that is causing them to "miss" more than "hits". |

The shelves are about half empty. They could use a store about half the size. Downsizing serves them right.

Not surprised. The place is like a morgue these days.
It almost always looks empty from outside, but I haven't bothered going inside since last April: www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=600082

This is not consistent with Rolex explanation that demand is too high, and thus no inventory!
I bought a JLC at HK airport many years ago; the best airport for watch fans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Maybe they really are making less watches then? This honestly comes at a surprise to me they would close that store.

I used to enjoy having a wander when I went back to HK. Unsurprising that it is being moved.

I’ve always believed that. Reason could be retooling/recalibration for new movements. There is no way demand suddenly skyrocketed in the last 2 years, from “ubiquitous” sub to none to be seen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Indeed Rolex AD (2 floor store) will close and Chanel will take over.
Still few ADs present IWC JLC Cartier Omega Panerai should come in soon as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Since Rolex is being treated, traded and valued like other commodities, this is a great idea!

It is sad, its not like Hong Kong is in a financial recession.
I hope something good comes out of this for Rolex and its loyal fans/customers.

Rolex store closing at HK Airport?
Rents among Hong Kong airport are outrageously high.
Big players like LV/Chanel can barely break even on this location... Not Rolex fault on this one..! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Bummer, as I always like walking through there.
About 3 or 4 years ago, before I ever bought a Rolex, I walked in and they had a Sub Date. Offered 10% off without me saying a word. I thought about it, passed, and got on my flight home. That started the obsession, and I was kicking myself for 14 long hours. |

Just passed through the AD at the airport. Chatting to the sales staff. Delivery had apparently just been made.
Yachtmaster 37 & 40 in oystersteel and platinum on display. TT submariner and GMT out the back but available to buy. Alas no stainless sub in stock. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |
